She stopped as he slid his chair out and rounded the table. He pulled her into his arms, kissing her lips first, and then he slid down onto one knee.

“This is what I should have done all those months ago, Eloise. I’m a fucking idiot. You’re the first woman I’ve ever wanted to be with. You got under my skin that night in the bar, and you were all I could think about. I’m not going to promise you that I won’t fuck up, because there is no guarantee of that. What I can promise you is that when I do fuck up, I will make it up to you and do everything in my power to make you happy.”

“Marry me,” Eloise said.

“What?”

“I know you’re down on one knee, but I actually came here to propose.” She moved down onto one knee, and he did have to help her so she was comfortable. “Marry me, Beau. I don’t want to go sneaking around anymore, and my mom and sister are a little tired of it.”

“Marry me,” he said.

“I asked you first.”

“Yes, I will marry you, but you also have to agree to marry me.”

She chuckled. “But I am asking you, and with me asking this question, that tells you I want to marry you.”

“That’s good enough for me,” he said.

Beau didn’t know what had changed Eloise’s mind. Either way, it was a gift. He fucked up, he knew that, and now he got a chance to finally make it right, and he wasn’t going to mess up again.

Eloise was his, and he wasn’t ever going to let her get away from him. He took possession of her lips, as it had felt too long since he last kissed her. She pulled away. “Also, Mom has invited you and the pack to Christmas dinner.”

“You know your house is a lot smaller than mine.”

“Yeah, I was wondering if we could cook Christmas dinner here?”

“Of course.” It would be the first Christmas dinner he and the pack ever had.

Epilogue

Five Years Later

Beau watched as the pack began to chase after his son and daughter. It was Christmas morning, and as per tradition for the last five years, Eloise, Wendy, Dorothy, and Rose spent Christmas Eve and the morning after opening presents. They were in the kitchen, preparing food for the whole pack.

His pack had gotten used to luxury in the past five years. He couldn’t believe how his life had changed. First, he’d gotten married before Beau Jr. arrived. His whole pack and Eloise’s family had been present to see them finally get married. They shared a brief honeymoon as life on the ranch didn’t allow for long-term vacations. When Beau Jr. joined them, he didn’t think his life could get any crazier, but it did.

He knew Eloise was terrified of giving birth, and Wendy voiced her concerns, but it was a smooth birth and had only taken a couple of hours. He put that down to his son being a little impatient.

Eloise moved in with him on the ranch, and the pack at first struggled to adapt to her being around, but little by little, their loyalty came through. They came to love her just as he did. She worked hard as well, keeping the ranch, and she even worked miracles on their small vegetable garden. He didn’t know how he survived without her.

It wasn’t long before their second child, Daisy, was on the way. This pregnancy was even better, and Eloise’s sexual cravings went up a whole new notch, and Beau was more than happy to enjoy the ride.

Wendy came into the living room and told them to get ready for dinner. He picked up his kids, one in each arm, and carried them to the dining room.

Eloise was there, waiting to help him, put them both into a high chair. The moment they were done, he couldn’t resist cupping her face, and like so many times before, kissing those delectable lips.

There was a chorus of approval from the pack and even her family. He pressed a palm to her swollen stomach. He had promised himself that two children were enough, but he should know by now, when it came to Eloise, he was at the mercy of his feelings.

“How are you feeling?” he asked.

“Good, very good. They clearly are looking forward to Christmas dinner.”
