During the off-season, I usually hung out in his office to do camp admin work from there, and during the summer he usually stayed around the camp to help with the kids. After two years, we’d settled into a routine, and the only reason I’d been glad to see the back of him when he’d headed to the private airstrip to fly up to Boston was because I’d needed some privacy for what I’d wanted to arrange. Now that I’d finished planning his surprise though, I was selfishly ready for his return.

I made my way up the dock and past the boathouse toward the footpath that led to our cabin. One of my concessions to Worth during the combining of our two lives was allowing him to build a brand-new cabin on the property to serve as our permanent home. I had to admit to being not-so-secretly happy he’d insisted on many, many luxuries in the new house.

It was still hard getting used to the idea that I was technically a billionaire. Against my very heated protests, Worth had put my name on absolutely everything he owned, including his bank accounts, Spinnaker Capital, the Worthington, the plane, the house in Fire Island, the house in Hawaii I hadn’t even known about, the penthouse in Chicago he kept for trips he had to take several times a year, and the ridiculously large retirement portfolio he had. My only consolation had been the look on his face when I’d insisted on signing half the Spinnaker Foundation back over to him in retaliation.

“But… but that’s yours,” he’d insisted.

“Not if we’re partners. What’s mine is yours, remember?”

I laughed remembering his sputtered argument and how I’d had to shut him up by shoving him down to his knees and pulling my cock out. He’d acquiesced gracefully after that, and the subject had been effectively dropped.

As I stepped down the path to our cabin, I noticed his sports car in the open garage behind the house. My heart jumped up, and I took off running.

“Are you home early?” I called out, slamming the front door closed behind me. “Where are you?”

“Back here,” he said from the direction of the bedroom. “The afternoon meeting was canceled, so I flew home early.”

I rounded the corner into our bedroom and came to a sudden stop when I noticed deep pink rose petals everywhere.

Worth was sitting on the end of our big bed with his hands clasped in his lap. He still wore suit pants and a button-down shirt, but the tie was gone and his sleeves were rolled up, showing off his hot-as-hell forearms.

“What’s going on?” I asked breathlessly. Soft music was playing in the background, and I noticed a bottle of champagne along with two glasses on the dresser. “What’s all this?”

“It’s your birthday,” he said with a smile.

“Not till tomorrow, old man. Are you getting forgetful in your old age?” I walked forward and clasped his face, leaning down to take his lips in a long, drawn-out kiss. “I missed you,” I murmured against his mouth.

His hands came up to rub my back underneath my camp polo shirt before sneaking down the back of my shorts and cupping my bare ass.

“You have no idea,” he said. “I was counting down the minutes like a teenager with Taylor Swift concert tickets.”

I laughed and climbed into his lap until I was straddling him on the bed. “I’ll give you a show, big guy,” I teased, beginning to unbutton his shirt.

“Don’t you want your present first?” Since his hands began lifting up my own shirt, I was pretty sure he wouldn’t mind delaying the birthday stuff.

“This is my present,” I said. I leaned down to kiss the base of his throat where the shirt opened. As I continued to unbutton it, I slid to my knees on the floor and kissed down his chest to his furry stomach. “God, you’re sexy as fuck.”

Worth’s hands landed in my hair and scratched gently. “Come back up here and kiss me.”

I surged back up and did as he asked, pushing him onto his back and climbing on top of him. After a while of pure, delicious make-out session, we scooted up the bed, displacing rose petals as we went.

“It smells amazing in here with all these roses,” I said, moving down to unfasten his pants. “Where did you get them?”

“I love you.”

His voice sounded rough with emotion. I looked up at him in surprise and saw his eyes shining with unshed tears.

“I love you too. Did something happen?”

He shook his head and reached for me, pulling me down again for more kisses. This time they were tender and sweet, heart-achingly affectionate in a way that only Worth was capable of. Sometimes his tenderness and deference toward me shocked me to my very core. It was almost like I was his kryptonite and the only person who could peel back his armor and reveal the sweet, loving soul underneath.
