Wait.

Where was the rest of the group?

Shit.

“It’s Tuesday, isn’t it?” I was supposed to be meeting everyone for coffee and planning…

Hmm, somewhere?

Roman groaned and it was easy to picture him rubbing his hands over his face like he sometimes did when Eli was driving him insane and they couldn’t fuck out their problems. “Yes, it’s Tuesday. How do you not know the day?”

Since the answer hadn’t changed in the last thirty seconds, I focused on something else.

My shoes. Keys, and yes, I had my phone in my hand. Oh, and notebook. Yes, I knew what I was doing.

“Can we go back to the beginning where you were screeching about tea parties?” How had he known about the tea party?

Emerson.

My doll was clearly the Chatty Cathy variety when left without supervision.

“Emerson had to share what a wonderful Owner you were and how perfect you were and how you made him a fucking tea party after letting him play dress-up and be a fairy princess.” Roman barked out the sentence like he was arguing about taxes or yelling at a judge in court. “I don’t appreciate this kind of pressure.”

Okay, and he’d lost me again.

As I looked down at myself and realized I’d just put on shoes while wearing pajamas, I sighed and changed directions, heading toward my apartment instead of the front of the building. “I haven’t put any pressure on anyone.”

Figuratively or literally.

I hadn’t even spanked my naughty doll yet.

“Every single sub here wants a sweet tea party Dom who’ll play dress-up with them.” He sighed. “And not like the innocent kind because god forbid that would be easier. No, these subs want the naughty kind and Eli is eating it up.”

Oh.

“I’m not having a fucking tea party wedding.”

I wasn’t sure why he thought he needed to shout that at me, but I shrugged even though he couldn’t see me. “I’m not the person you should be having this discussion with. But if you need wedding suggestions, I’m currently drowning in fairy tales, so…”

Eli would like that.

“Fuck. I hate you.”

So did that mean he liked the idea too?

He’d make a very dashing Prince Charming as long as he didn’t open his mouth.

“Was there another point to this call?” Had he just interrupted work to yell at me about tea parties? “Some of us work for a living.”

Ignoring the dramatic nonsense he was mumbling under his breath, I headed into my bedroom and started digging through the closet for real clothes.

I could not show up at a coffee shop in pajamas no matter what other people looked like in there sometimes. Unfortunately, I’d somehow become a bit too famous for that and I’d end up on the stupid gossip blogs again.

I wasn’t paparazzi following me around famous but give an idiot with a cellphone one shot of my jeans sliding too low and suddenly my ass was on late-night TV.

“How did the first shoot go?” Roman’s complete one-eighty had me shaking my head. “Emerson said he thought it went well, but then he got off on that stupid tea party tangent and I couldn’t get him back on track.”

That was completely believable.

“It went perfectly. He did a great job.” I, on the other hand, needed to pay more attention to the lighting and not let Emerson’s sexy eyes distract me, but for a test shoot, it’d gone very well. “We’re doing a bigger one on Friday with several of the corsets. He said that worked for your schedule too?”

“Yes.” Roman was calm enough I couldn’t tell if he was being professional or if Eli was blowing him again. “Yeah, that works for our schedule. I’d like to see the photos when you have time. Eli is dying of curiosity and Preston is worrying and hovering.”

How that man thought Emerson was as innocent as he appeared was beyond me.

“Sure.” Tossing clothes on the bed, I thought about my schedule for the week now that I knew what day it was. “Maybe Saturday afternoon? Lunch or something? I have to talk to Emerson first before I make any definitive plans, though.”

Roman let out a quiet breath. “You’re really interested in him? Like, you guys talked about what you both wanted and were compatible?”

It was a legitimate question, but not one I appreciated.

“Do you honestly think Emerson wouldn’t already have asked me a thousand questions?” His snort had me almost smiling. “Besides, we’re taking things slow. He’s fine.”

Roman made another rude noise. “I was more worried about him driving you crazy than him thinking you’re crazy.”

Roman was the one who was crazy.

“Emerson is very sweet and was very professional.” Roman’s groan said he didn’t believe a word of it. “He’s very innocent and I’m not going to rush into anything until I’m convinced that he completely grasps what kind of relationship I want.”

“Fucker.” Then the drama queen hung up on me.
