I decided to get cute for Malcolm, so after my shower I shaved all over and styled my hair. Then I opened my suitcase and rummaged through the sexy underwear I hadn’t worn yet on this trip.

There were a lot of choices since our week had been derailed, first by the migraine and then by the wedding chaos. I considered a sheer jock strap and a pair of lacy booty shorts, but I didn’t want to feel like I was seducing Malcolm tonight. Not when my guilt at keeping that secret from him was at an all-time high.

So, instead of selecting something sexy to put on, I went with funny instead. Years ago, I’d been a part of a white elephant gift exchange, and the person who’d brought this item had taken that name pretty literally. I put on the jock strap and chuckled when I took a look at myself in the full-length mirror. It was made to look like an elephant’s face, complete with big ears and a pair of bulging google eyes. The best part, though, was the trunk, which of course was a sleeve for my dick. I muttered, “Classy,” as I adjusted the elastic straps and turned to look at myself from various angles. Mal would think it was hilarious, so I went with it.

After I got comfortable on the bed, I took out one of my notebooks to pass the time. I assumed I’d be too distracted to write, so I started editing a story I’d started the week before. But then an idea for the next scene came to me, and I picked up where I left off.

I got so wrapped up in the story that I was startled when I heard the door lock click. A glance at the clock on the nightstand told me it was ten-fifteen, so I set aside the notebook and quickly struck an exaggerated pose on the bed.

Malcolm called from the living room, “Are you here, Daniel? My son Brad wants to meet you.”

Fucking hell!

I launched myself out of bed and looked around frantically. Then, for lack of any better ideas, I rushed out onto the balcony and shut the door behind me.

This wasn’t a solution, though. The balcony was lit, and the curtains weren’t drawn. If Brad got as close as the bedroom doorway, he’d see me.

I climbed over the railing, shimmied down the metal slats, and hung off the bottom edge. Then I awkwardly managed to climb onto the balcony below mine. The door to that suite was locked, and as I stood there, the lights came on inside. Fucking awesome. I repeated the process and wound up on the first floor balcony. That door was locked, too.

After pausing for a moment and assessing my options, I climbed over and down the railing, hung off the base of it, and dropped about eight feet into the landscaping below. There was an employee locker room near the restaurant. If I could get to it, I’d probably be able to find something to wear. Getting dressed was definitely step one. From there, I could figure out step two.

I snuck around to a side door, but it was locked, so I kept circling the lodge. The next door was locked, too. That wasn’t great, because it meant my only option was the main door to the lobby.

When I got to it, I opened it a crack and looked around. I didn’t see anyone, so I slipped inside and dashed to the first seating area. I dove onto a sofa, popped up like a groundhog, and surveyed the lobby. Then I heard voices, so I ducked down and hid behind the back of the couch.

As more voices and the sound of footsteps echoed through the lobby, I realized the dinner party had just ended. What terrible timing on my part! Most of the guests were making their way to the stairs or elevators, which were near the center of the lobby. Since I was at the front of the building, there was a chance no one would notice me. All I had to do was wait it out.

But then a group of men took a seat near the large fireplace, which was maybe twenty feet from me. I peeked around the edge of the sofa and saw Brad and Frederick were a part of that group.

Oh—so Mal hadn’t been bringing him to meet me. I’d misunderstood. Maybe he’d wanted me to come downstairs and join this little after-party. Now I was stuck until the group called it a night. At least everyone else had gone upstairs.

Time ticked by at a glacier’s pace. After what could have been twenty minutes or five hours, given how bored I was, I decided I couldn’t stay there anymore. For one thing, I was freezing my nips off. Also, Malcolm must be wondering what had happened to me. Sooner or later, he’d come downstairs to search for me. If he decided to check outside, he’d have to exit through the main door, and then he’d spot me hiding here, nearly naked, with an elephant on my dick. What would I say if he found me like this? There was literally no explanation that made sense.
