“No, but I’m sure glad to know,” Harley chirps.

“Baby, maybe we should leave them.” Ace turns her to the door, sharing a look with Major before he escorts her out.

“Mind-blowing? Life-changing?” He arches an eyebrow.

“Not the time to mock me. No more.”

“No more what? Sex?”

“Yes, no more.”

“You telling me I finally got to taste you, feel you wrapped around my cock while watching you come apart, and there will be no more?”

My stomach spasms at the memory. “Not until we get back home.”

He stares at me a beat, his eyes dancing with hilarity before he barks out a laugh. “Not happening, babe.”

“Everyone knows. You will be a gentleman the next few nights, and we refrain.”

“Refrain?”

“Stop repeating my words. Yes, we refrain.”

“Okay.”

“Okay?”

“Yeah, okay. You say no sex, I’ll play along.”

“This is not a game.”

“Tonight, when you have my mouth between your legs, we’ll see how you feel.”

“None of that, either.”

He gives me his heart-melting grin before lunging forward and lifting me off the bed. “I look forward to tonight, Julianna.”

“Nothing to look forward to. Sleep, lots of sleep. Big day tomorrow. I meet your grandparents and need my beauty rest.”

“You get any more beautiful, you’ll outshine the sun.”

“No more of that, either!”

He sweeps his lips over mine. “Love you.”

Shit, I’m a goner. There’s no way I’ll stick to my guns. The glimmer in his eyes tells me he knows exactly how it affects me.

“I’m serious, Major. I knew this would happen, and we should have waited until we got back to Nashville.”

“What exactly has happened?”

“Your parents invited me into their home for a special weekend, and I acted like a horny hussy.”

His amusement fades and he presses me tighter to him. “Don’t do that. Don’t take what happened between us and make it cheap and dirty. I’ve waited a lifetime to have what you gave me last night.”

Shame floods my system at the sincerity staring down at me. “I’m sorry, it’s just mortifying.”

After a few seconds, the glint of humor returns. “Not to me. You know how many times growing up I lay in this bed thinking about fucking a beautiful girl? You made my teenage fantasies come true.”

There are photos all over the house of Major growing up, and even as a teenager, he was built in a man’s body. The image of him lying in bed thinking about having sex douses all my mortification and brings a smile to my lips.

“Glad to fulfill your fantasies.”

“But if you’re that embarrassed, I have no problem locking us in here for the rest of the night.”

The thought crosses my mind and then quickly dies. I take his hand and step back. “No way. You, me, and this bed is a bad, bad idea.”

“It’s an excellent idea.”

He doesn’t budge when I pull him toward the door, instead yanking me back to his body. “In more ways than one, Julianna. You fulfill my fantasies in more ways than one.” The deep rumble in his voice sends a shiver down my spine.

A ping of sadness curls around my heart at the picture of the two boys at their high school graduation, the Marine Corps flag hanging from their hands.

“That’s—”

“Koby,” I finish for Cindy.

“You know about Koby?”

“A little. Major told me about his tragic death.”

“Yes, it was awful. Such a beautiful life cut short.” She purses her lips as if she wants to say more, but turns quickly. “Was that a car door?”

She rushes away, leaving Harley staring at me with wide eyes. “What’s that about?”

“Major’s best friend growing up was killed in a drive-by.”

“Oh my God.”

“I know.”

“Did you feel there was more to that story?”

“One hundred percent.”

We don’t say more because a cry of excitement echoes from the foyer. Celia and Doug Whitman have definitely arrived.

“We would have been here ages ago, but the traffic was a nightmare,” Celia complains.

“More like you couldn’t decide on your dress,” Doug outs his wife, getting a nasty look in response.

“You’re here now, that’s what counts,” I say, hugging Doug.

Ford’s parents live in a suburb on the other side of Chicago. All the parents met the guys through the years, but it wasn’t until last fall that all the parents met. All of them became fast friends.

“As much as I love being in the presence of you beautiful women, I need some testosterone. Where are the men?” Doug peers around the house.

“Head out to the garage. Jim has a new toy he’s tinkering with.”

Doug’s eyes spark at the word toy. “It’s here?”

“Delivered this week.”

He’s gone without another word.

“Boys and their toys.” Celia laughs, then calls to his back, “Don’t get any ideas!”

Apparently, Jim has a thing for old muscle cars, always wanting one. Cindy found a 1978 Firebird Trans Am and surprised him with it for his birthday. She recruited Doug to help with the search.

“I swear, Achilles’ eyes misted over when we saw it.” Harley giggles.
