Each time she got a text, fear would claw up her throat, threatening to swallow her whole. So far, each time they had been at church, Smokey had talked about everything else.

She didn’t know if any of the guys had figured it out yet, but Raven had.

“She’s begging for more,” Big Dick said. “She wants it.”

She couldn’t believe how blinded men are. “Look at her eyes. Look at her face.”

The woman, another newbie, was on her knees, saying all the right things, but when the cameraman was at the position of the cock entering pussy, her face was … bored. She wasn’t into it at all.

“I’m not a porn expert, but using a shit ton of lube doesn’t make a woman aroused.” Raven shrugged.

Big Dick groaned. “Man, you’ve ruined porn for me. Every time I watch it, I’m going to be thinking of this moment.”

She scrunched up her nose. “Please, don’t think about me, like, ever when you’re watching porn.” The very thought of it grossed her out.

Big Dick smirked. “Oh, I will, baby. My hand wrapped around my dick, sliding up and down, thinking about Raven. Sweet, hot, sexy Raven.”

She would have elbowed him in the gut, but instead, she laughed. “Yeah, good one. If you’re having to take care of your own orgasm, shit has really gotten bad for you. I’ll let you handle your own needs. Think about me all the time.”

And just like that, the joke was back on him.

Big Dick shook his head. “Man, nothing ever fazes you.” They walked side by side, checking to make sure the women were safe.

They had an incident some time ago, when one of the men had tried to choke out the woman, but it wasn’t part of the agreement. Since then, Smokey made sure the women were always taken care of. They were making a living and had the right to be safe.

“Do you ever get … scared?” Big Dick asked.

“What do I have to be scared of?”

“I don’t know. Life. Shit.”

“Dude, I’m the only female member of the hardest fucking club around. I don’t have time to be afraid.” She wasn’t about to tell him that her fate rested in the hands of a revolver or that she spent a lot of time in a state of panic.

No reason to worry him. When it came to protecting the club, that was when she had her shit together. She wouldn’t allow anything to happen to the brothers and would always have their backs, as long as … Smokey allowed it.

“You’re right about that.”

Her cell phone went off, and that called time on her duty.

She slapped Big Dick on the shoulder and told him to have fun. She grabbed her bag and headed out of The Shack, going to her bike. There was no helmet. In the past few months, she liked living on the wild side, and that meant just living. Not constantly dealing with safety. Not that she’d ever cared too much about her safety. In the early days of the club, Smokey had insisted on it. Recently, he didn’t give a fuck, and the truth was, she never had.

Straddling her bike, she kicked off and headed back into town, going toward the diner where she’d be able to grab lunch.

Ava was still on maternity leave, and even though she visited her bakery from time to time, she wasn’t there constantly. Smokey had insisted Ava take an extended leave for their son, Umberto. Owning a bakery was tough. Long hours, including late nights and early mornings. Smokey didn’t want Ava hurting herself.

Raven was able to go to the diner, the one place she knew Ava rarely visited. Also, from listening in on a conversation that morning, Smokey was taking Ava shopping.

After parking her bike at the only available slot, she turned off the ignition, climbed off, and headed into the diner. She went to the main counter and took a seat, lifting the menu. She was starving. With Ava being at the clubhouse, she had snuck out, forgoing breakfast.

Following a glance over the menu, two orders of burger and fries seemed the most ideal. She was so hungry.

Raven was waiting for the waitress to come over to the counter when the door bell rang. She couldn’t help but check to see who had come through the door. An old habit that never died. Her hand was within reaching distance of her knife. Always prepared.

Carlos had entered the diner.

He stood out in Fort Clover, in more ways than she cared to acknowledge.

Why the fuck was he back in town?

She knew he’d purchased a house, a nice one in the most expensive part of town, large as well, but he also disappeared to the big city often. What was he doing back?

Raven didn’t care, instead, turning back to her menu.
