“Talk, Sia.” Daven taps the plug again, and the lovely vibration ceases. The plug suddenly expands to a point where it’s not really fun anymore.

“Ow.” I wince.

“Sia.” His voice is granite.

The plug isn’t cool anymore, either. In fact, it’s warm, and–my ass is burning!

“Ow, Daven!” I reach back, trying to pull it out. “It burns!”

There’s a smile in his voice. “It won’t harm you, little human, but the botanical extract it exudes can be quite…stingy. Or so I hear. I haven’t worn one myself.”

“Take it out!” I’m a little panicked and angry. But he’s holding me down tightly.

“We do things my way, Sia.” He spanks me again, once, twice. “And that means you’ll wear the plug on this setting until you choose to tell me the truth. You can trust me. You’ll learn that it’s safe, little human. The timing on that, though, is really all up to you.”

“But it hurts!” My voice whines and catches. It's crazy. My memories may be compromised, but I know I would never normally argue with a slavemaster. Something about this Zandian makes me comfortable enough to show my discontent.

“It will stop as soon as you tell me what I want to know. Imagine how lucky you are. Some masters make their human females wear the plug on this setting for a whole morning. Would you like that?”

“No!” I say quickly although part of my brain, a strange deep part, wonders if it might not be so bad after all.

But I do really want him to make it do the other thing instead at this moment, the vibration. And touch me. Mother Earth, I want his fingers on my body. I trust that he’ll make it feel good.

“Fine, I’ll tell you!’ I blurt. He says I can trust him, and right now, I believe it. “Please. Okay.“ I hesitate and continue, “I was in a lab, and I was tied down. They were going to do something to me.” The fear starts to swirl in my chest. “I don't know what, I swear, that part is still missing. But they mentioned a project.” I swallow, bile rising in my throat. Don’t talk about the work. “Daven, help!”

My whole body stiffens in utter panic. “I’m not supposed to say it, I’m not, I’m not!” I scream the last part.

He reacts instantly. “Sia, shhh, it’s okay, it’s okay.” His quick fingers turn the plug off, extract it in seconds. “It’s okay.”

Suddenly I’m in his arms, face pressed to his chest, sobbing. “No, it’s not. They’re going to hurt me if I say it.”

“No, sweetling, they won’t. You’re safe here, you’re not going back. I promise.” His voice is harsh, but it’s not at me. From him, at this moment, all I feel is protection. “You can tell me. It will only make things better here, Sia.”

“O-okay.” I take a deep breath. “It’s like my mouth won’t make the words come out though.”

He strokes my back, waits. “Just try.”

I take another breath and blurt the thing out before my mind can process what I’m doing. “It’s called Project Alpha, and I’m a Project Alpha, and I’m an Experimental, and it’s top secret, and those two took us by mistake, and they, they realized their mistake, and they thought maybe they should kill us or hide it or something, and they attacked me when we got to that planet, they were mad and thought we’d snuck ourselves onto that ship or something, but why would we do that…”

I’m hyperventilating. “I don’t even know anything else, it’s all gone.”

“Good job.” He strokes my shoulder. “That was excellent, Sia. Thank you for telling me.”

He tilts my chin up and meets my eyes. His handsome face is stern, but when he smiles it makes my entire body feel melty and warm. “Well done.”

I feel strangely proud and duck my head. “All I did was say something.”

“Do you remember more? What is Project Alpha?” He’s calm, but I sense the urgency behind his words. “Do you have any idea of what the Ocretions are planning with the Karran?”

I shake my head. “I’m sorry. I don’t.” Right now it’s true–my brain is dancing in my skull, leaping, and all of my thoughts scramble together. And the oddest sensation mixes into it all, like something is alive and whirring–inside my head. What in Mother Earth? Then it fades.

But the worst didn't happen! I spoke about Project Alpha–actually mentioned the words–and nothing happened. I feel such relief that I don’t even care about the strange sensations in my head. Maybe things are going to be all right despite everything.

He tips my head up again, and our eyes meet for a few seconds. He nods. “All right. But when you do remember more, you tell me, yes?” He quirks a brow. “Or the punishment will be longer. More thorough.” He smirks and suddenly the pangs of desire are back, full force, overwhelming and dissolving any residual fear or angst brought out by the awful memory.
