“Got two choices. Leave her the fuck alone or go all in. And you know what goin’ all in means… A ride north and a sit down.”

He wasn’t willing to do either. But for now, he’d keep that shit to himself.

What really chapped his ass was that his enforcer was supposed to listen to the club president, not the other way around. This whole thing was fucked up. “Thanks for the advice, brother. Gonna sleep on it.”

“Better not wait too damn long to decide. Otherwise, if Shade finds out that you’re doin’ his girl behind his fuckin’ back, you might not wake the fuck up.”

“Noted.”

Magnum grunted. “Guessin’ you wrote that note in fuckin’ crayon.”

Romeo forced out a dry laugh. Maddie wasn’t the only one thinking they’re a comedian. “Nah. Invisible ink.”

The Knights’ enforcer shook his head and turned on his boot to leave. Thank fuck. As expected, the man totally fucked up Romeo’s goddamn afterglow.

Just as he turned to go inside, he heard, “Rome,” and glanced over his shoulder.

“Know it’s fuckin’ difficult for you but… don’t fuck up an alliance that’s been solid for fuckin’ years over some pussy.”

The problem was, to him, Maddie was far from “some pussy.”

For some fucking reason, that idea disturbed him more than the conversation he just had with Magnum.

Romeo ground his teeth and headed inside.

He told Magnum he would sleep on it, but he didn’t like anyone telling him what to do. Tonight was no damn different.

“I shouldn’t have to remind you that it’s a privilege to work here. As well as to work for me.”

Maddie sat across from Roger in his office, trying her damnedest not to gag. As usual, her boss decided she’d committed some imagined deadly sin. Like greeting a patient in the wrong tone or some such crap.

“You seem to have forgotten that.”

Maybe that was because she didn’t see him as some golden calf. He wasn’t worth worshipping like he thought he was. He was her boss, plain and simple.

The only problem was, how connected he was in the world of professional sports. At least on the western side of Pennsylvania. Maddie was sure that none of the sports teams in the rest of the U.S. had ever heard of the jerk.

Roger was a legend in his own mind.

Sort of like Romeo.

But unfortunately, he was well-known around Pittsburgh in the sports circles, so she had to play nice. She swallowed the bile working its way up her throat to say, “I appreciate you giving me this job—”

“Did I indicate in some way that it’s your turn to speak?”

Maddie clamped her teeth down on her tongue to keep from spewing how she really felt about the man sitting across the desk from her.

With a smug smirk on his very punchable face.

She reminded herself for the hundredth time that she only needed a little more experience under her belt so any team she applied for would take her more seriously. Despite her education, only having a little more than a year on the job, as well as her age, counted against her.

She understood it. Professional sports teams only wanted seasoned physical therapists. They didn’t want to leave their highly paid athletes in the hands of someone without extensive experience.

As it was, those jobs were well sought after, and any opening would have a lot of applicants. Right now, with her level of experience, they most likely would file her resume in a round file—aka trash can—without even looking at it.

Roger’s influence and recommendation would help hers get seen. Hence, her bloody tongue and forced smile.

She was ready for him to say whatever he wanted to say… meaning, he needed to hurry and write her up for whatever perceived wrong she did so she could remove herself from his presence.

Sitting in a closed office with the man was not on her top ten things to do.

In contrast, Romeo was on that to-do list.

What bugged her the most was, she couldn’t stop thinking about him. Especially after the last time they hooked up.

She had no idea what Roger was blabbing about since suddenly, she was taken back to two nights ago.

Holy shit. That foot massage, though… The one he gave her once her belly was full of surprisingly decent food. She didn’t expect that from a true biker bar. Cold beer? Yes. Lots of whiskey flowing? Of course. Good food? A crapshoot.

Once she was sated with food, he began digging his thumbs into the bottoms of her feet. She wasn’t ashamed to admit she almost orgasmed. Then, when he squeezed her aching toes, she just about melted into a puddle.

As a sports physical therapist, she did a lot of hands-on with patients and she doubted her massages were anywhere near that level.

The man had very strong, capable hands.

It could’ve also helped that he was buck naked while he manipulated her sore feet in the best way.
