Her body trembled; fingers fisted on her thighs. Her quaking made her hair shiver and the inked wand on her back glowed as if she weaved a silent spell through her white negligee.

Ducking to my haunches behind her, I used the excuse of grabbing her thick hair to press my mouth to her ear. For all my shortcomings and sins, I pretended to be the cop she wished I was.

“Do you trust me?” I breathed.

Say no.

Never, ever trust me.

She gasped and shivered then nodded.

“Do what I say and do it quickly.” Pulling back, I commanded for the crowd, “Put your hands behind your back, little nightmare. Let’s string you up so I can feast.”

Men chuckled.

She immediately obeyed.

Two sides. Two emotions.

The man within me was so fucking thankful. Thankful she played along. Didn’t fight. Didn’t trigger my beast. While it slumbered, I could be kind. While it slept, I could stay human.

But the other part of me…that very beast that slowly came alive no matter how much I tried to keep it dead, huffed with rapidly growing irritation.

Was it too much to ask for a little struggle? For a single word of rebellion?

The joy of bringing her back in line would be indescribably—

Bad.

Terrible.

Focus!

Slowly, I wound my belt around her cuffed wrists, buckling her tight but not too tight. Using the curtain of her hair to hide my lips, I whispered into her ear, “I’ll take you from behind, like the show we just watched. I-I’ll be quick. Just…don’t fight me, and it’ll be over soon.”

She lowered her chin.

I didn’t want to tell her the reason it’d be over soon. I might be more honest with her than anyone, but I drew the line at confessing I’d almost come against her ass the moment my fingers sank inside her heat. That I’d been one rub away from blowing as her wet need clamped around me.

Despite these dangerous games and mind wars, our bodies couldn’t distinguish truth from fiction.

She’d been dripping for me—

Lies, remember?

Her wetness hadn’t been for me.

It’d been for him.

And Christ, that gutted me far deeper than it should.

My hands trembled as I unsnapped the leash from her collar.

I’d planned on tossing it away, but…an idea bloomed.

I couldn’t fight it.

Didn’t want to fight it.

She’d ridden my fingers for her own enjoyment—pretending I was someone else, somewhere else. She’d used me to escape.

Therefore, I’d use her back.

I’d ride her like she’d ridden me—as impersonally and as callously as possible so we both harboured no illusions that this meant more.

Fisting both ends of the leather leash, I reached over her head. Raising my voice, I ordered, “Bite down. I need reins if I intend to ride you.”

She stiffened.

A few chuckles.

A couple of claps.

With a quick inhale, Ily opened her pretty lips and let me insert the leather leash between her teeth. “Bite.”

She bit.

“Don’t let go. If you stop biting while I fuck you, I’ll…”

Christ, what?

Hit her?

Spank her?

Both those punishments would send me into a tailspin.

Before the men could offer sick suggestions, I chuckled. “I’ll let one of the others have a ride too.”

“Spit the reins out, sweetie!” a man predictably shouted. “I want a ride!”

Ily clamped her teeth deeper into the leather.

She would never let go.

And that filled me with sinful pride.

She might curse our bargain and wish me dead, but in this, she only wanted me. Just me. It made me a selfish, selfish man because being her first and only choice in this castle full of sadists, I could pretend, just for a moment, that I wasn’t as alone as I felt.

Brushing my nose along her throat, I whispered, “I’m going to tip you forward and raise your hips. Put your cheek on the floor and just…close your eyes. Think of someone else. Think of someone you want. Just…keep pretending with me, and we’ll get through this together.”

Together.

That word again.

It’d lacerated me in the library, and now it burned like a painful coal in my long-lonely heart.

Drawing up, I tipped her forward and took her weight as she rested her cheek down. With her hands bound behind her back, she had no way to push up and run. No way to fight me off. No power of any kind.

The beast inside me perked up. Twitched. Salivated.

Placing the ‘reins’ on her back, I dropped from my haunches to my knees and flipped up the short skirt of her nightdress and…fuck me.

A ripple of savage, savage lust roared.

Pink.

Wet.

Mine.

All mine.

My mouth watered.

I wanted a taste.

To bite, lick, and consume.

But that would well and truly swerve into forbidden territory. I’d forbidden myself from kissing her again. I would never taste a single piece of her that wasn’t meant for me.

I was merely borrowing her. Renting her willingness to pretend.

That sparked my rage again.

I was a fucking seesaw, tipping from sane to insane.

Rearing up, I unbuttoned and unzipped. Reaching into the dark warmth of my boxers, I fisted my hardness and pulled it out.
