“You definitely did struggle in the past, but at the moment, you’re not that bad. You’ve slowly learned how to let me in. I think perhaps you were more scared than anything else.”

I wrap my arms around his waist, but there’s not much room to get closer with my belly taking up the space.

“I was,” Judah admits. I spent so long wanting to please everyone who I thought mattered in my life, that I didn’t see who I really was. And I also didn’t want Kai and Valen to be pulled into any more shit because of their lifestyle choices. For me, I didn’t actually give a shit. But they mean so much to me, I couldn’t put them in danger.”

“I get that,” I tell him. Nodding, I continue, “I didn’t expect you to trust me from the first day. Hell, I didn’t trust any of you. Even though Valen was friendly, and more approachable than you or Kai, even he was still kept at arm’s length because I didn’t know what to do with myself.”

“But you held your own,” Judah reminds me. “Which is probably why I knew you could handle us. You’re a strong woman, little spy,” he whispers against my lips before he kisses me deeply.

As much as I think I don’t want sex, whenever one of them teases or taunts me, just like Judah does with his tongue right now, I can’t stop my body from responding, my thighs squeezing together, and my whimpers vibrating in my chest.

“Is someone in need of some release?” Judah speaks against my lips as he flicks his tongue over the bottom one, then the top.

“Jude,” Kai calls from the door, causing Judah to groan in frustration. I can’t stop the giggle that escapes my mouth. “Sorry, mate, we need to head out to the school.”

“Something wrong?” I ask, stepping in front of Judah.

Kai shakes his head, but he doesn’t look at me when he replies, “No, just something needs dealing with.”

This time, I’m moving toward Kai. I stop right in front of him, my hands at my sides, fisting to keep from shaking him because I want to know what the hell is wrong. “Which means something is wrong.”

Kai’s gaze drops to mine, and he meets me dead on. “Please, princess, it’s nothing to do with you or us, but we need to go and see one of the professors.”

“Let’s go.” Jude and Kai both kiss my cheeks before they head off and I’m left on my own. I didn’t see Valen go with them, so I head up to his bedroom to see if he’s in. I know they hardly ever leave me alone, especially now that I’m pregnant, so he should be here somewhere.

It’s frustrating being left out of work, but I have to deal with it. It won’t be long now and I’ll have the babies. Once they’re here, we can go back to a semblance of normal. I can be back at work after I take my maternity leave, but I know I won’t be sitting at home forever. I’d be bored out of my mind.

“Val?” I knock on his bedroom door and wait. We all kept our respective rooms, in case we need a break from each other. Mine has been turned into a library for the most part, with my bed still against the one wall. But all my clothes are in our main bedroom which we had fitted specifically for the four of us.

“Come in, princess,” Val calls to me and I step inside to find him painting. He only started recently, and I smile when I see it’s of the garden. A beautiful sunset, illuminating the scene below it.

I don’t wait for him to say anything before I enquire, “What’s going on at the school?”

Valen sighs as he swipes the paintbrush across the canvas. “There’s been an incident, but you don’t need to worry about it because the guys will take care of it.”

I know what he means by take care of it and that’s what sets me on edge. “If it’s something that needs Judah and Kai to sort it out then it means it’s serious.”

He knows I won’t give this up until he tells me exactly what’s happened. Valen has put up with my stubbornness for a long while now, and he’s come to get used to it as well. Even when I’m being a bitch about something, he’ll appease me in some way. He’s different to the others, and I know that he’ll be the one to keep me in the loop if ever Kai and Jude decide to take things into their own hands. Which is more often than not.

“Well,” Valen says as he sets the palette down along with his paintbrushes. “There’s been an attack, so they’re going to interview some witnesses to get to the bottom of it.”
