I may not love her, but I’m still going to marry her. Even though I’m tempted to kill her and send parts of her back to her father, bit by bit. I’m going to make him pay for trying to kill us, to kill the soon to be Kings.

What he doesn’t realise is that his precious princess will be our Queen.

I lift the crop and bring it down on her pussy, causing her to gasp once more. The sound is beautiful in the dungeon's darkness. I repeat the action over and over again, while Valen tightens his hold on her neck. The struggle in her gaze is obvious, and as she tugs at her restraints, she looks from me to Valen, to Kai. But neither of us aid her. Instead, the torture continues. She’s so close to the edge when I stop my ministrations, and Valen releases her from his hold.

We step back, take in our princess as she pulls in a much needed breath. “You’re monsters.” Her voice is ragged, but I can’t help smiling at the way she still fights back, even though we could so easily end her life.

“Hate us all you want, princess,” I tell her. “You’re still a possession in this house. You were born a bargaining chip in a war that was started by your father.”

“Bargaining chip or a weapon?” Brielle throws back easily, fire dancing in her eyes as she looks at us.

Kai takes two long strides and stops inches from Brielle. “If you want to be a weapon,” he hisses in her ear. “You’ll be our weapon. Is that clear?”

Brielle’s gaze flickers to mine as if she’s looking for help. Perhaps she wants mercy. I don’t know what that word means. But I can read the realisation in her expression. There is a shift in her demeanour because she comprehends her situation. As I tip my head to the side to watch her, she will not die today.

She looks back toward Kai. “What do you want me to do?”

“You’re ours,” Kai says, and leans in close. “And that means you will obey our orders. Because we’re about to send you to the front line of a war, your father started.”

Valen takes a step toward her, stopping to her left, while Kai leans in to her right. But it’s Val who continues, “You’re going to be our little spy,” he tells her, the corner of his mouth tipping upward. “And you’ll betray the one man who used you all your life.”

“You want me to go undercover with a man who taught me everything I know?” Brielle laughs. It’s a humourless, bitter sound that makes her come across as more ruthless than I expected. “He’ll see right through me. He knows when I’m lying, and—”

“We know when you’re lying,” I interrupt her little tirade. “I knew the moment you walked into this house that I couldn’t trust you, and here we are.”

“I can’t do it.”

“Oh,” I say as I stop in front of her. “But you can. Because tonight, we’re going to a party, hosted by one of the most dangerous men in Italy, and when we do, you’ll be beside me, as my soon to be bride. And you’ll be the one who will find out all the information we require. Think of it as…”

“A test,” Valen finishes my sentence. “It’s a challenge for us to make sure you’re loyal to the right side, to the men who will without a doubt, end your life without a second thought.”

There is a darkness, a rigid anger in his tone. He will not forgive her anytime soon. I’ve known Valen for far too long, and I know when he’s hurt. Brielle has most definitely gotten under his skin.

She looks at him for a long, heavy moment, the silence is filled with guilt and regret coming from her. “Fine,” she finally whispers. “I’ll do it.” Her eyes turn glassy as the tears sit on her lashes, waiting to fall.

“Of course you will,” I tell her. “Because if you don’t, I’ll make you watch as I gut your father like the lying bastard he is.”

I spin on my heel, but can’t help the smile that curls my lips when I hear her gasp in shock. The thing is, I’m going to kill the fucker, anyway. She just doesn’t know it yet.

BROKEN TRUST

VALEN

I shouldn’t be angry with her, but I am. I’ve spent a lot of time with Brielle since she arrived at Black Hollow. Out of the three of us, it was best for me to take the lead, to ease her into this world. Only because I’m the least threatening.

Judah is an unfeeling bastard when he wants to be, and Kai, well, he’s the fighter of the three of us. And he looks like he could easily snap her neck.
