“We’ll get his revenge for him tonight. I want every one of those motherfuckers dead tonight.”

“Blade asks that you leave Eyeball for him. He realizes why you want your retribution, but Eyeball took everything from him. He wants to be the one to get vengeance for his brother and for the years he’s had to rot in prison.”

“I know Eyeball ordered my woman to be picked up. I can’t let him live.”

“I’m not so sure he’s the one calling the shots here,” King speaks up.

“What do you mean?” Dragon asks.

I follow King’s gaze as it moves over to the corner where Gabby is crying and refusing to let go of Skull. I swallow, a horrible, bitter feeling welling up inside my gut. “You think it was that last man,” I whisper. “Lucky.”

King tears his attention from Gabby and nods. “I do, but I think that’s a conversation we all need to have alone,” he says, looking at Dragon and Hangman.

“Our men are at your club. I ordered Breaker to send a few men from Skull’s crew and our own to stay here. We can go to your club and meet with our allies there and talk,” Dragon interjects.

“F-F-Ford will be here soon. He’s having Grunt and a few of D-D-Dad’s men take our women and go into lockdown mode at the Savage compound. It will be easier to protect,” Thomas adds.

“Is that smart?” Hangman asks. “Might be better here, where we have more firepower.”

“I’m not bringing them closer to these fucking idiots. My men will be able to protect them if worse comes to worst,” Dragon responds.

“Dragon,” I gasp. “What about Kayden?”

“Her, Chains, and the baby are staying out of the country for another week. They’re safer there, Mama.”

I nod, because I’m relieved. Finding out my family is all safe at the moment, however, lets exhaustion completely claim me. I go limp next to Dragon. He immediately picks me up. “Fuck, Mama, are you okay?”

“I’m tired … I really need to sleep, Dragon. It’s all just catching up with me. I’m alive and no one is threatening to gang rape me or slit my throat. I just want to sleep.”

“Gang …”

I really should have left that information to myself. At least I didn’t mention that for a large part of my stay, I thought the one leading my rape would be King. I have a strong hunch that news wouldn’t go over that well.

“It didn’t happen. King protected me. I just need to rest,” I tell Dragon. I fake a large yawn to add weight to my words.

“Okay, Mama. Just rest,” I hear Dragon croon close to my ear and it makes me smile. I know the two of us have a lot of talking to do, but we have time to do that now. I have no doubts that Dragon will neutralize all threats tonight. My man is on a mission and when something endangers the ones he loves, he’ll kill them all. Dragon loves fiercely and protects with everything he has. It’s one of those things that makes me either want to kill him or get down on my knees and beg him to never leave me. It just depends on the day which one of those I’d choose. Tonight, it’s definitely the latter.

Chapter 16

Skull

“Daddy don’t go. Let Dragon and the others deal with them, please?” Gabby begs.

“It is my job to show them not to touch my familia. No one else can do that but me, Gabriella.”

“I need you. Please don’t leave me alone. I don’t feel safe.”

I sigh. After reading the file that Dom had on Gabby, I’m a fucking mess. Beth and I have fought for years over me giving in to anything my daughter wanted. I knew she had a point, but my daughter was the apple of my eye. I wanted to give her the world because I missed out on the first two years of her life. I admit, I have a tendency to overdo it. Guilt has a way of eating at you. Still, I didn’t see it as a bad thing. Diego is a great young man, and it’s not like I didn’t give him everything I could either. Although girls are different. They’re softer, a man needs to protect them differently.

I look down at my daughter, who is lying on a cot made for someone camping or whatever. She has bruises all over her neck, there is swelling as well. Her face has cuts and scrapes. She looks like hell. More importantly, her eyes look hollow. The joy and zest for life that I used to see in my daughter is gone. She looks … empty. The need to fix it and give in to whatever she asks of me is so strong, it nearly robs me of breath. I force myself to back down. I can’t continue this path. The shit I read in that fucking file Dom gave me cut like a knife. It became clear that my daughter was a spoiled brat who thought of no one but herself. The fact that she’s been trying to get pregnant to trap a man into marriage breaks something inside of me. When did my little girl turn into this conniving bitch that would sink so low? I knew I had only myself to blame, but that didn’t make my realization any easier.
