Like a cuddle picnic.

“And you’ll cuddle with me?” I wasn’t sure I could picture what that would look like and I couldn’t decide if asking that would be rude or not.

“You can make a comfy spot right against my side, curled up between my legs, and then I’ll be able to wrap my head around and rest it in your lap.” Boyd’s fingers trailed down my neck in a soothing rhythm.

“It wouldn’t be rude?” That might not have been the right word but it worked for the time being.

“You can pet my head and cuddle me like a big stuffed animal and it wouldn’t be rude or weird or wrong in any way. I’m your Daddy no matter what form I take, so think of it like you’re the little spoon when we have time like that.”

I liked being the little spoon.

“I’d be a very little spoon.” My cheeky response made Daddy laugh.

“The cutest tiny spoon.” Kissing my head, Daddy released the seat belt. “Come on. Let’s go find some pillows and then I’ll let you see me naked again.”

My face went so red it hurt and I hid behind my hands as I groaned. “Don’t say that.”

He let out a wicked chuckle. “I’m not going to promise that. Come on, teaspoon, let’s go.”

Ugh, that was a terrible nickname.

“Daddy, no.” Pouting, I sighed as he climbed out of the car, still wearing his grin as he shut the door and almost bounced around the front to come open my door. “That’s not a good idea.”

I was going to end up spoonie or something ridiculous if I wasn’t careful.

He was looking very pleased with himself as he opened my door, holding out his hand. “Time to cuddle, teaspoon.”

My groan only made him more tickled.

Kenzie would’ve definitely said he was being naughty…but I wasn’t Kenzie, so I wasn’t sure if pouting was the right way to handle it or if I should ignore it like I might if someone was being rude in the library.

“Daddy.” My drawn-out pout just had him flashing me a grin.

“Hmm, what about silver…short for silverware?”

Oh God, that wouldn’t be any better.

How would I explain that if he said it in the diner?

No, we needed to change the subject very quickly…and since desperate times called for desperate measures, I tried to channel Kenzie or Lorne.

Wide eyes.

Innocent smile.

Sweet kiss.

“I can’t wait to see you naked, Daddy.”

Bingo.

His expression flashed heat and passion before settling back into a sexy smirk. “You’ve been spending too much time with naughty subs.”

Well, they were his friends, so I wasn’t worried about it.

“No, Daddy.” Hmm.

Cheek kiss.

Snuggle close.

Head on his shoulder.

“I can’t wait to cuddle with you.”

He huffed, but I knew it was for show because the way he did it for me was different than he did for anyone else…even his friends. “Fine, not silver.”

I’d take the wins I could get, so I laced my fingers through his and tried not to look too pleased as I straightened. “Cuddle time?”

Somehow my questions didn’t seem as overwhelming anymore, but I liked the idea of cuddling with my Daddy in his dragon form since I hadn’t gotten to see that enough.

He chuckled, kissing my forehead. “Yes, cuddle time.”

Thank goodness.

Yes, there were some things worse than embarrassing questions.

Nicknames.

And I held that thought tight as we walked through the house, grabbing pillows and a big blanket to sit on.

In fact, it was such a good thought I didn’t start to get nervous again until Boyd had laid my stuff down and started taking off his clothes. That was when I found where my nerves had been hiding. They sometimes wandered off but they always came back.

As I did my best not to blush and ignored Boyd’s snicker, I arranged my pillows a dozen different ways until he took pity on me and shifted. He was so sexy and I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to see him naked and just see it as something boring.

Boyd was never boring.

Scales not skin.

Thank goodness.

“Okay, Daddy, you first.” I waved toward my blankets and pillows as I swore he grinned. “I don’t want to be accidentally squished.”

If he isn’t laughing at me, I’ll eat my favorite library book.

“Don’t snicker. You’re really big.” How he didn’t realize that made me question his smarts. “Dragons should not roll their eyes.”

Had he laughed at me again?

It almost felt like an echo in my head, but I hadn’t laughed first.

“You’re too beautiful and too majestic.” Oh, that made Daddy preen as he curled around my blankets and made the perfect space for me.

Nest.

Oh yes, it was a nest.

“It’s more like a nest, Daddy.” Why hadn’t I thought of that before? “Okay, no wiggling.”

I’d have sworn he huffed, but he was so still I knew I’d imagined it.

“You’re very warm, Daddy.” Propping up pillows against his belly, I made my nest between his limbs and curled up in the perfect fort. “You know, if we put a big sheet over you, you’d be a dragon fort.”
