“They give off a lot of heat.” Talon finally managed to add something helpful to the conversation, so I stopped ignoring him. “It’s not uncomfortable, just unfamiliar, and the town knows enough about you that this would not be what finally sends them over the edge. So I wouldn’t worry about it.”
He had a good point and Stefan’s nod said he realized that.
“Okay…” Nodding to himself, Stefan stepped closer as we stopped by the car. “Okay. Yes, I can see it being unfamiliar.”
He wasn’t giving me nearly enough to go on, but Kenzie didn’t seem to mind that. He just focused on his goal. “So let’s go back to our place because that’s got more room to maneuver without an audience, and oh, you—”
Interrupting what might’ve been an endless ramble, I jumped in. “Yes, I have protection for both of us. He won’t be seen.”
“How does that work?” Stefan’s shocked tone echoed just enough that it must’ve made it into the diner because more faces were pressed against the windows.
Great.
Now they thought he was confused about how the orgy would work.
As I decided if him looking that innocent would be a good thing or not, Kenzie was helpful and explained the protection mages made so that we wouldn’t end up on the news.
“That’s marvelous.” Stefan’s face lit up as he probably came up with a dozen more questions. “I’m very impressed.”
And the customers in the diner were still very confused.
Fuck it.
“In the cars.” Shooing Kenzie toward his, I focused on Stefan. “Do you want to shift with them or go back to your place?”
I lived too close to town to make his first flight at my house. If he screamed, everyone would know it and the gossip would get even weirder.
“It’s easier to get naked at my place.” Kenzie’s excited decision-making help had his Daddy snickering and Stefan finally remembering the lack of clothes part.
His eyes went cartoon sized and his mouth dropped open.
Nope.
That wasn’t fixing the we’re not having an orgy problem.
“I…” Closing his mouth and swallowing, Stefan finally found his voice. “I don’t think I’m ready to see you naked yet, so can we do that another time?”

And slightly insane.
But so was Kenzie, because he just smiled. “It might make you horny, so that’s understandable. I don’t think Daddy would want me to watch you have sex, so we’ll do it another time.”
How everyone kept opening that damned door at just the right time to make us look like sexual deviants, I’d never know.
“Thank you for the helpful information.” Stefan’s brain hadn’t caught up with what was going on because it just let him say the most interesting things. “It probably will, but it won’t take Boyd long to switch back.”
Dragons above.
I wasn’t sure Talon could breathe, but it wasn’t because he was giggling any longer. No, his eyes had gone wider than Stefan’s and he was slightly horrified as Kenzie opened his mouth.
He wouldn’t make it.
It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion, but I was faster than our stunned-stupid deputy. “If you finish that thought, I’ll make sure Miss Nancy feeds you nothing but soup for six months.”
That had the ridiculous dragon shutting his mouth, a pout firmly in place as he scowled at me. “I was just going to be helpful.”
And kill his Daddy.
Not that I had any plans to ask what the fuck they’d done.
“I’m going to take my mate home. Thank you for being helpful and making him more comfortable with flying.” It was my turn to scowl. “But I will not help you hide Talon’s body if you accidentally kill him.”
Kenzie sucked in a breath like I’d sucker punched him. “We’re friends. You’d have to help me hide his body. That’s the rules.”
Stefan was looking at us like we’d lost our fucking minds, but he also managed to save the day and get me out of the ridiculous conversation.
He gave Kenzie a hug. “I’ll help you. But it would probably be best if we didn’t have to in the first place, so I’ll talk to you later.”
Saved by the librarian.
Chapter 23
Stefan
Everything from orgies and dragon sex to flying and pie were bouncing around in my head and I couldn’t sort any of it out.
Boyd had been right…going to the diner was stressful even if it was very informative.
“Are you alright?” Boyd’s voice was very Daddy as he turned to me and I realized he’d parked the car. “You’ve been very quiet.”
And that made him worry.
Oops.
“I’m sorry. But the town thinks we’re having sex with Kenzie and his Daddy, and I think they had sex while Kenzie was a dragon, and I didn’t get to finish my pie. Oh, and you’re going to take me flying.” Yes, it was kind of a lot.
“It’s probably a mix of physics and magic, but with your wingspan the lift is probably fine, but I really should’ve taken more science classes in college.” I just hadn’t thought I’d need them.
