“Pretty sure I was there for it.” He gives me a sexy smirk.
I really wish I’d talked to him before about our plans for the future, about if or when we wanted to create a family together. “It’s just we’re on birth control and I’ve been careful, but—”
He shrugs, not looking the least bit bothered by this. His casual acceptance is making my heart soar. “This baby is the best news you could have given me today.”
“I’m so happy.” I sniff. I cried yesterday at a waffle commercial. It’s what made me realize my period was late. That’s how I ended up taking a pregnancy test this morning.
He drops to his knees on the tile. “Show me.”
I laugh at his enthusiasm. “There’s nothing to see yet.”
“Show me,” he insists again, sounding like a kid on Christmas morning that hasn’t been allowed to open his gifts yet.
I pull up my blouse slowly, revealing the same stomach he sees every day. It’s marred with stretch marks and cellulite. It’s flabby and bumpy and not at all perfect but he loves it the same way he loves me—completely.
He presses a kiss to my soft flesh. “Hey, peanut. This is dad. You haven’t met me yet but I’m your biggest supporter. I’ll cheer you on no matter what you do and always, always love you just as passionately as I love your beautiful mom.”
He’s going to be an amazing dad to our baby. I can’t wait to see him rocking our little bundle to sleep or reading bedtime stories. The thoughts have me squeezing my thighs together as my panties dampen.
“Ryker,” I call his name in that needy tone I use when I want him to love on my body. He always obliges. No matter how long his day has been or what chores he’s had to tackle, I’m always his first priority.
Our guests will come looking for us soon. But I don’t care. I want this moment with my husband, need to feel him plunging into me and reminding me that I belong to him.
“I know what you need, tigress,” he says before helping me into the tub. He starts the water and gets it warm before he strips off my clothes. “You need your man to fuck you.”
“Yes,” I groan as he slides his big cock through my folds. Maybe it’s the pregnancy or the high of the moment, but it feels even better than it ever has before. All of my nerve endings are live wires and when he slides his shaft against my clit, my knees nearly buckle.
But he doesn’t let me fall. Ryker will never let me fall. He wraps one arm around my waist and holds me up. Then with a wicked grin, he shoves inside of me. It’s a hurried, feral union with me scratching his arms and his back, desperate to get him closer.
Every sting of pain only drives him to snap his hips against mine even harder until we’re exploding together. It’s untamed and wild and primal and somehow, perfect.
“We’re terrible hosts,” I sigh as he gathers me into his arms.
“Pretty sure our friends will understand.” He presses a kiss to my temple and settles me on the bathroom counter with a towel wrapped around my body. He retreats to the bedroom only to return with a clean dress. It’s his favorite dress of mine after I wore it to a restaurant in Asheville. Halfway through dinner, I told him I wasn’t wearing panties. He couldn’t get me out to the truck fast enough.
Once I’m dressed, I do my best to fix my messy hair. He’s behind me in the bathroom mirror, grinning like a fool. “You look quite pleased with yourself.”
“I think I have a right to be. I knocked up my wife.” He wraps his arms around me and hugs me from behind.
I lean into his embrace and let out a little sigh. “You make me the happiest woman on earth.”
He nibbles my earlobe. “The adventure is only just beginning. We have decades more to walk together.”
I smile at his words. Ryker is my husband, my best friend, and my warrior. He’s steady and unflinching. He loves me perfectly, and I know that he’ll love our baby just as fiercely.
