“Ah, I see your hustle, Leah Carney,” she stated. “I already sponsor the women’s soccer and volleyball teams here.”

“Which is great. Those are great teams who deserve all the funding and attention they get, but they also both have a lot of other sponsors. They get broadcasted and interviewed all the time,” I pointed out, knowing that I was doing an actual elevator pitch right now. “But the women’s ice hockey team is just as deserving. We’re just doubted more because people think women can’t handle such a physical sport. I want to prove them wrong. Would you be willing to help me prove them wrong and help us get to this tournament to put women’s ice hockey on the map?”

Edith held my gaze for a few seconds. When the elevator doors opened, I feared that she would walk through them and ditch me, but she nodded.

“How about we arrange a meeting? Tell me more about your team and what you need. We’ll come up with an agreement,” she suggested.

I could’ve jumped up and down and pumped my fist, but I smiled gratefully instead, reigning in my excitement.

“That sounds perfect,” I told her.

Edith fished around in her cream-colored purse until she found one of her business cards.

“Email me. I’ll see you soon,” she said, smiling at me before leaving the elevator.

I stared at her card for a few seconds, unable to believe that my plan actually worked. I had a meeting with Edith Harlow! And I was getting that sponsorship deal. With a radiant smile on my face, I strode out of the elevator only to come face-to-face with Hugo and two other hockey players, making me pause.

“Look at who it is. Ms. Captain,” the black-haired guy chuckled. Dark stubble lined his jaw, and he seemed to be the tallest of the team, towering above six feet. He looked a bit more mature as well, but I couldn’t say that applied to his behavior.

I cocked an eyebrow at him as I placed my hands on my hips.

“Funny how you know who I am, but I have no idea who you two are,” I stated in a snide voice as I gestured to him and the one who looked European, who seemed to be blessed with a blemish-less face and a good sense of style. His brown leather bomber jacket, buttoned shirt, and slightly ripped jeans spoke true to that.

Hugo smirked and patted his two friends on the back.

“This is Anthony,” he said as he gestured to the one with dark hair. “And this is Mikael.”

“I’d say nice to meet you, but…” I muttered with a shrug. “I have places to be.”

An amused look crossed Anthony’s face.

“Woah, woah,” he said as he held his arm out to keep me from darting away.

A part of me wanted to shove him back as our bodies came close to one another. That was when his cologne hit me. Cedarwood and citrus. Annoyingly intoxicating and that stupid smug look on his face brought out his dark stubble and low fade haircut that suited him well. I was a freaking sucker for hair that was a dash curly too.

“What do you want from me? Autograph?” I asked, pushing myself to stand strong in front of these guys. If they sensed any weakness, they would jump on it.

Anthony chuckled as he glanced over at Mikael.

“Wow, you hear that, Mikael? She’d be nice enough to give us an autograph,” he said.

I clenched my teeth as I watched them mock me. They thought they were so funny with their little quips and jokes.

“How priceless,” Mikael replied, sporting a light accent that made my heart skip briefly.

Why did it do that? Frustration flashed through me as I tightened my fingers into fists in an attempt to ground myself. I was starting to not trust myself around these guys.

“I’d rather get something else from you, though,” Anthony commented as he moved even closer to me, his eyes sweeping over my body. It felt like fire trailed his gaze as warmth flushed through me from head to toe.

Hugo smirked as he tilted his head at me, shifting a few strands of his slick-backed, brown hair.

“I’ll take a private meeting,” he chuckled as his fingertips brushed the bottom of my blouse.

My stomach twisted as the three of them seemed to surround me, their gazes and comments hitting me from all sides. It was all overwhelming, annoyance and distaste rising like bile in the back of my throat.

But it was like I could feel the heat radiating off their fit bodies, taking hold of me and lighting a fire in the bottom of my stomach. My skin threatened to tingle as they came close, frustrating me and confusing me at the same time.

They drove me crazy and pissed me off to no end! But they worked me up in a way that I couldn’t control, and my mind was soon taken over by vulgar images that nearly made me dizzy. What would it be like to let them do what they wanted to me?
