“Uh… Moose?”

“Hmm?”

“That was, uh…” She cleared her throat. “That was—”

“Fucking phenomenal?”

Daisy chuckled, and it sounded full of relief. “Yes. Yes, it was. But um… my legs are going numb.”

He was the one laughing now as he gripped her thighs and slowly lowered her to the floor.

“Whoa,” she said as she wobbled and laughed at herself. “Jelly legs.”

“Yeah, not sorry about that.”

“Good. I’d be crushed if you were. Um…”

Now what? He could go and pretend he had some errands to run to give them time to get back to normal. One look at her timid expression had him scratching that idea. Fuck it. He’d be leaving town as soon as he sorted out her problem, so they might as well soak up as much time as possible.

“Hungry?”

Her stomach chose that moment to let out a loud growl.

She gasped and slapped a hand over her belly. “How’d you guess?”

“C’mon, I got us some nice greasy burgers. Perfect way to make up for all those calories we burned and the ones I plan on burning later.”

“Okay,” she said with a wide grin. “Let me put on some clothes.”

“Here.” He bent and retrieved the T-shirt he’d been wearing before getting naked with her. “Wear this.”

Her cheeks flushed. “Okay.” He stared without shame as she slid the shirt over her head and then got swallowed up by the fabric. “Ready.”

“God, you’re cute as fuck in my clothes.” He grabbed the shirt collar and pulled her close, unable to resist another kiss.

She stumbled and reached for the counter when he was done with her. “Phew, you make me feel drunk.”

Grinning, he disposed of the condom. Aware of how she watched him as he’d watched her dress, he stepped into his jeans but didn’t bother with the button or zipper. “Let’s eat.”

Daisy followed him out of the bathroom and over to the small table. The food had cooled but still tasted delicious. Vigorous fucking worked up a ravenous appetite, as evidenced by how they inhaled their meal without any conversation.

Once finished, he nudged the Styrofoam container to the center of the table and leaned back. “That hit the spot.”

“It did.” Daisy smiled at him. “Good call on the milkshakes. Sex and a chocolate shake in one afternoon… doesn’t get much better than that.” She averted his gaze as though uncomfortable with her bold words.

Damn, she was cute. “Why, Daisy, are you flirting with me?”

“Maybe.” Her smile grew coy, and she shifted her gaze back to him.

He winked. “I like it.”

She blinked, probably surprised by the admission. Normally, he had no interest in flirting as it required him to spend too much time talking to someone he didn’t care about. When it came to fucking, he liked to get in and out without any games or time wasted on flirtation.

But as everything else seemed to be, flirting with Daisy felt different. It was fun, and he loved the way it flustered her.

“How about a nap?” Neither of them slept a full night, and after the stress of the morning, they could use it.

“Oh.” She glanced at the bed and then back to him. “Yeah, that sounds good.”

He stood and extended a hand to her. Daisy’s eyes widened, but she placed her smaller hand in his, allowing him to tug her to her feet. He guided them to the bed, then pulled back the covers, gesturing for her to climb in first. The tentative way she moved and how she lay on her side facing away from him had him grinning.

“You can’t get shy now,” he said with a chuckle. “Not after how you were moaning my name in the bathroom.”

Gasping, she turned toward him. “Moose!”

He laughed and climbed into the bed, lying on his side but facing her with about two feet separating them.

“I’m not used to this kind of thing.” She stared at his chest instead of his face. “Just lying here with a man, talking, snuggling… it’s intimate.”

“But you are used to fucking men you barely know?” Of course, she wasn’t. He didn’t actually think it for a second, but it was fun to play with her.

“What! No.” She smacked his arm. “You know what I mean.”

Moose wound an arm around her waist, closed the distance, and pulled her across the bed and into his body. She nestled in, fitting perfectly against his chest. Her breath blew across his heated skin, causing goose bumps to erupt.

“I do know what you mean. I’m not used to it either. At all.” He’d never done it. Not once. When it came to relationships, she probably had worlds more experience than he did.

“It’s kinda nice,” she whispered after a few moments of silence.

“It is.” Really nice. Addictingly nice.

Another few minutes went by before Daisy said, “Moose?”

“Hmm?”

“How old are you?”

He chuckled. “Thirty-four.”

“You?”

“Twenty-three.”

Jesus. He’d guessed she was young, but hearing more than a decade separated them turned the suspicion of their drastic age difference a reality. She should be out partying, living her life to the fullest, not shacking up in a sleazy motel with a crusty biker because her life was in danger. If he were smart and not a selfish idiot, he’d let her go, give her his back, and fall asleep, but instead, he hugged her tighter.
