He wanted me there?

“I…” Monroe wanted me there with him when he played with Lorne. “Sure. That…that would be fine.”

“Such wonderful enthusiasm.” Monroe gave me another kiss to distract me from telling him what a dick he was. “Let me wrap things up here and then we can go find our boy.”

That wouldn’t be hard.

“All we probably have to do is ask near the bugs in your garage.”

Monroe scoffed, sending a glare toward the door. “I can’t decide if that being true makes it funnier or more frustrating.”

“Frustrating.” That should’ve been obvious.

****

Well, at least I knew how to do this part of being a Daddy.

“No, it looks fine. He’s not going to know we finished it up today unless you tell him yourself.” Glaring at the overly worried Daddy, I dropped my voice and enunciated very clearly. “And you will not tell him yourself. Is that clear?”

When Monroe sighed, I knew I hadn’t made my point well enough. “You had all the pieces and you had the room cleared out. You even had it painted, for fuck’s sake. No one ever puts together that stupid flat-pack furniture on their own. You just didn’t hire someone in the conventional way.”

Magic should always be used when putting together IKEA furniture. It was the only way to make sure everything went together perfectly and looked exactly like it had in the store.

Monroe stood taller, nodding and looking around the room. “Yes, if we lived closer to the store, I would’ve had them put it together, but that just wasn’t an option for a lot of reasons.”

Living in the middle of nowhere had its drawbacks sometimes.

“You’d have had to rent a U-Haul to get all of this furniture put together at the store and back to your house.” Raising one eyebrow, I gestured around the room at the shelves and the new bed that was decorated for a little. “Could you have kept this a secret doing it that way?”

We both knew the answer, but I waited in silence anyway.

He finally gave me a rueful smile. “Fine. You’re right. Everyone would’ve known and that would’ve just made a mess of things.”

That was an understatement.

“They’d have ended up telling him that I was your little.” Mess wouldn’t have described that situation.

Chuckling, he shrugged. “Okay, you have another point.”

With his worries out of the way, he pretended to glare at me and crossed his arms over his chest. “And I wish you’d stop that.”

I just shrugged.

“If you’re going to try to look menacing, you have to stop wording things so politely and you can’t look like a mad puppy.” How anyone could be nervous around him was beyond me, but I’d seen it happen when we were out around regular humans.

His pout proved my point. “I can’t help it. I like the tattoos and I look good in black, but being mean is rude.”

Why had fate thought I needed two insane mates?

“We’ll practice.” Eventually, he had to get it right. “I’m fairly certain Lorne wants a scene where he’s abducted by a motorcycle gang leader, and I think that’s a job for you.”

I could change my looks but he had them without magic.

“What?”

When that was all that came out, I rolled my eyes. “I’ve been getting random links to dirty romance novels all afternoon. From him and his friends. Haven’t you?”

Monroe shook his head, sending another rush of frustration through me. “No.”

“Great.” I’d been counting on him reading them and passing on the pertinent information, but that wasn’t going to work. “What do you want to bet that he’s worried about upsetting his sweet Daddy by showing him naughty things?”

Monroe grinned and almost sighed he thought it was so adorable. “He held my hand walking through his sex dungeon. Did you see that?”

It’d been impossible to miss.

“We don’t have time to walk down memory lane. We’ve got to finish getting ready for Lorne because he’s going to be here any second and you still haven’t told me how you’re going to get him into the right headspace or what my role is here.” We were missing just a few little details.

And he smiled again.

“But you’re not worried about any of that, right?” Monroe’s teasing tone made me want to strangle him. “That’s what you said before.”

Lorne wouldn’t really miss his Daddy if I killed the annoying giant, right?

“You’re not helping the situation and let me remind you that I helped you finish the playroom.” Or maybe nursery? I wasn’t sure about the terminology when toys and a bed were in the same space and it wasn’t a bedroom.

Chuckling, he inclined his head and gave in. “You’re right. I should be very grateful.”

He should but he was more interested in fucking with me.

“And?” I wasn’t going to let him walk away without giving me more information this time. “Researching online didn’t help. There were too many variations on the lifestyle and Lorne said he was going to do your limits list later because mine was naughtier and I hadn’t told him he couldn’t play with himself yet.”
