Carrie snickered. “She’s really gone for him.”

“She really is,” I confirmed. “It’s disgusting.”

Carrie smiled and handed me the paperwork. “You were featured on Good Morning, Florida today. I suspect you’ll get a bump in your sales.”

I groaned. That was exactly what I needed. More sales.

I couldn’t keep up as it was.

“I think we might need to close the Etsy shop down,” I suggested. “That way, we can fill our backlogged orders and then keep people from ordering more until I’m ready.”

Though I loved what I was doing, I didn’t love it enough to slow time with my baby.

Or Davis.

Or Sara.

Or Carrie.

Hell, or anybody.

“I have to go.” She sighed. “I have an appointment to get my nails done at two. My nurse is taking me out.”

I smiled. Carrie’s nurse had started dating Finn last year, and now they were in “we’re very serious” territory.

However, the nurse still did her job, and Carrie was still the first priority for her. Which both annoyed and thrilled Finn.

“Have fun,” I said. “We still on for lunch Tuesday?”

“Obviously.” She winked. “We have to talk about what’s next for you and your business.”

Groaning, I shut the door on her laughter and went to find lunch.

Then spent the next several hours listening to my girl let me know how much she disliked me and missed her daddy.

By the time Davis showed up around dinnertime, I was a frazzled mess.

Which he noticed quickly and took over.

Like always, the moment she was in her father’s arms, she stopped crying.

I felt my eyelid start to twitch.

“I fuckin’ hate you,” I grumbled, turning on my heel. “I’m going to take a shower.”

He laughed and dropped all of his things on the counter.

My eyes hit his wallet, and I saw all the bills stuffed inside.

Why he carried so much, I’d never know.

“Sounds good. I’m gonna spend time with my girl.” He left the room.

I eyed his wallet some more. And, because Brennan wanted him more, I chose to be petty. I mean, I carried the damn kid for nine freakin’ months! I had stretch marks!

I picked up his wallet and dumped all the cash. Then proceeded to mix it all up.

Tens with twenties. Ones with fives. Fives upside down. Ones twisted around and upside down.

Grinning wickedly, I made a right mess of his cash. Then went about moving his cards around, too.

“What are you doing?” I heard him say from behind me.

I hastily shoved the last of the bills into his wallet, tossed it onto the counter, and turned with what I hoped was an innocent expression pasted on my face.

“Oh, I was looking for a dollar.” I held it up. “I have to tip the dude coming with my tea I just ordered.”

“Get your shower,” he ordered. “I’ll wait for the tea.” He plucked the dollar out of my fingers. “Then we’re going out to eat for dinner.”

Smiling, I did just that.

I felt like a new woman when I stepped out of the bedroom, fully dressed and with makeup on for the first time in weeks.

“Ready?” he asked, holding my tea out to me.

I groaned and reached for it, taking a sip.

Heaven.

“Ready.”

He pocketed his wallet and didn’t check it again until we were in line buying ice cream.

I knew it wasn’t planned, us meeting some of his club members, but it worked out that way when he pulled in and saw half the club eating ice cream on the benches outside the shop.

Davis walked up and greeted them with Brennan in his arms.

I was slower to follow, full from the amount of food I’d shoved into my mouth.

When I arrived, it was to Wake standing on Davis’s left. Cassius on his right. And Bain behind him.

Alice was peeking over Davis’s right shoulder, looking at Brennan but not attempting to take her.

She knew just as well as the rest of them that the moment she was out of his arms, she’d start screeching and hollering like her life was over.

Damn, did the girl know how to break her mother’s heart.

Just as I arrived, Sara called my name.

I turned to find her at the counter getting ice cream with Sunny at her side, smiling.

I left them all for my best friend.

“Ohh,” I said as I hugged her. “I missed you.”

“I just saw you yesterday.” She laughed. “Sunny has news. That’s why we’re here. We were going to bring y’all a pint but looks like you finally decided to get out of the house.”

I snorted. “I think Davis saw that I was losing my shit and decided to help. Food and ice cream. My favorite.”

I looked over at Sunny. “What’s up? What news? My mom?”

“Your mom,” he confirmed. “She took the plea deal. She’ll be sentenced to ten years in a minimum-security prison.”

I sighed. “That wasn’t what I was hoping for, but it’s better than what she could’ve gotten.”
