“Oh, no, you don’t.” But I pin her down and unbutton her jeans with one hand. She squirms as I yank them down, barely trying to fight me off. My dick’s throbbing with arousal and she grins down at me, taking little gasping breaths. “This isn’t fair. You need something to look forward to.”

“How about this? I lick your beautiful little pussy now and make you come, only once, and I take that memory with me when I go do a bit of killing. That way, I know what I’m getting when I come home.”

She bites her bottom lip. “You might’ve found an acceptable loophole.”

“Good. Now grind yourself against my mouth. I want to feel you.”

She leans forward to kiss me. I bury my tongue in her mouth and stroke my fingers through her silky hair and realize she’s all the incentive I fucking need. Once I’ve had my fill of her mouth, I shove her back and yank her panties off, and bury her wet lips with my tongue. I lick her, suck her, and drive my fingers deep inside. She’s gasping, her moans driving me wild, her taste filling my mouth.

“I said I’d take care of you,” I say as I fuck her with my fingers, stroking her nice and deep, grinding my palm against her clit. “And that’s what I’m going to do.”

“God, that feels so good, I’m not even going to complain.”

“Damn right you’re not. Now, I’m going to lick your clit and keep on fucking you with my fingers like this until you come. Can you do that for me, baby?”

“Fuck, yes, I can.”

“Good girl.” I get to work and she doesn’t last long.

Her orgasm is the screaming variety, and it’s the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard. Once she’s done, I make her lick my fingers clean, then kiss her chastely on the lips.

“Very good girl.”

She’s got a happy, glassy look in her eyes, and she stretches like a cat. “I could get used to this.”

Chapter 18

Saul

Finnian Lynch isn’t in the safe house. We hit it hard, coming at it from the front and the back, and clear it out in only a few minutes. The fighting’s quick and we don’t lose any soldiers, but it’s bloody and ugly. Once the worst is over, we regroup on the other side of the city at one of our own hideouts.

“Six dead,” Carlo reports, his shirt unbuttoned and splashed with blood. He leans against my truck. I’m parked in an alley behind a boring row home in a decent neighborhood. I doubt anyone around knows what we use that place for. It’s soundproofed to perfection. “We took two of them though. Gian and Dante are getting them set up in the basement.”

“Anyone important?”

“Not sure yet. One’s a midlevel dealer and soldier, and the other one’s pretty fucked up. We’ll see who he is once his swelling goes down.”

I grunt in reply and crack my neck. “How the fuck do we keep missing him? The intel was good this time. I would’ve bet my house that Lynch was going to be here.”

“I don’t know,” Carlo says, expression hard. “But each time we chip away at them and take more of their guys, we get a little bit closer.”

“But the war keeps fucking dragging on.” I pace back and forth, worked up and angry. The longer this takes, the harder it’s going to be when I break the news about Molly. I knew this going into it, but now that I’m knee-deep in the shit, it’s frustrating.

I want to bring her into my life. I hate holding her at arm’s length. It feels like we’re getting closer and closer, but there will always be this space between us until I can introduce her to my family.

Which can’t happen yet.

Gian comes out the back door and wipes his hands on his jeans before noticing us. He comes over and looks from me to Carlo, then ends up squinting at me. “What’s your deal?” he asks.

“He’s all amped up over this shit,” Carlo says, waving a hand and answering for me. “How’s it going in there?”

“We got them tied down. Dante and the boys will work them over for a while until we can get something from them.” He stretches his arms and leans against the truck.

“I don’t know how you two aren’t all worked up too,” I say, glaring at my brothers. But that’s not true. Carlo’s always on the edge of worked up, while Gian’s the most unflappable guy I’ve ever met. It’s just that neither of them have a Molly waiting back home, hidden away. I hate treating her like a secret.

“I’m confident we’re going to win,” Gian says as if it’s a fact of life. “The Irish are on the run and the Russians haven’t been effective for months. Once we take down Finnian, it’s only a matter of time before we have Jasha’s head.”
