She didn’t need to know the true extent of what he’d done to help her.

He had no doubt she would’ve been fine on her own, but what was the point in that? She had him.

“What would you have done if I didn’t feel the same?”

“But I know you did. There was no doubt of it in my mind.” He’d seen the curious glances she’d always sent his way. Even when she was a kid, she had a crush on him.

“Oh, my God, are you using my childhood crush against me?”

“Is it really a childhood crush when you still have feelings for me?”

“I cannot believe you and your ego.” She chuckled. “Wow.”

“Tell me you don’t have feelings for me,” he said.

“You know I can’t do that.”

“Why not?” he asked.

“Because that would be a lie, and I refuse to lie to you, even if you do deserve it.”

He smiled.

Blaze knew she had feelings for him, but it was a lot nicer to hear the words from her.

Chapter Six

Fay stared at Blaze’s closet.

He’d gotten all of her clothes from her apartment, and now they were neatly hanging up next to his.

She stared at her clothes, and then his.

Hers were well worn. Stepping out of the closet, she gasped as hands surrounded her.

“Do you like what I’ve done with the place?” he asked.

“By done, you mean the clothes you have stolen from my apartment?” she asked, whirling around to look at him. “When did you have the time?”

“I have my methods.”

She rolled her eyes. “I’m not staying with you. I’ve got my own place.”

“I’ve already given your keys back to the landlord, and there was nothing else to get. Your furniture came with the apartment. There was just your clothes. The dishes, saucepan, and food are in the kitchen.”

Fay was embarrassed that he had seen how little she had accumulated in the past three years. Money was tight. Even working two jobs, with the rent, and then trying to make ends meet with transport, getting the bus, or a taxi, it was next to impossible to save for nice things. Then of course there were the random shopping trips Blair liked to go on.

It was why some of her clothes were faded, and others were barely worn.

Blair wouldn’t allow her to leave a shopping trip without buying something. She always called it a token memento or something like that. She didn’t always get it.

Her friend was always collecting things to remember certain days by. A test that she’d passed, or something like that.

After pulling out of Blaze’s arms, she made her way to the kitchen. Two boxes sat on the counter. The true extent of her life.

She looked inside and started to grab her stuff. “Do you want me to put it away?” she asked.

“Fay, talk to me.”

“There’s nothing to talk about.”

“You’re upset. I don’t think it’s because you’re moving in with me.”

“What are we going to tell Blair?” she asked.

“I’ll deal with my sister. Don’t change the subject. What’s going on?”

“Look at it!” She pointed at the boxes and then flung her arm in the direction of his bedroom.

“This is the last three years of my life. What do I have to show for it? Nothing. A few clothes, some that I couldn’t afford. A few items from my kitchen.” She lifted out a plate that had so many chips on it. “How can you even want me? Look at what I’ve accomplished. It’s absolutely nothing.” She shook her head, feeling sick.

“Stop,” Blaze said. He took the plate from her hand. “Do you think I give a shit about material things? All of these can be broken. Look at this plate, it’s still working. It’s still a plate.”

“A massive safety hazard.”

He put the plate down and grasped her wrist. She didn’t have the energy to fight him. Blaze pulled her in close, pressing his face against her neck.

“You survived, Fay.”

“I don’t know what the hell I want to do. I’m not like you or Blair. She is so focused on what she wants to do, and I honestly don’t know what I want to do. I’ve done so many different jobs. Some I’ve been fired from because I’ve been that bad. I graduated high school, but I was in no way a great student. It was hard.”

“And you still got through it.”

“You’re not seeing the point.”

He slammed his lips down on hers, and at first, she struggled a little, not wanting to cave to his kisses, but that slowly changed as she felt him against her. She released a little whimper, and that seemed to be all he needed to slide his tongue between her lips and deepen the kiss.

Blaze moved her back, pressing her up against the wall. Grabbing her thigh, he lifted it over his hip, which put his dick close to her pussy.
