Ok, that deepens the mystery. She’s an escort, but she doesn’t need money. Think, Barry. Why is she here then? For the kicks? For the intrigue? Not only that, but Monica said this is her first time working for Curves. Did she lose a bet? Is this a dare? But who would escort on a dare?

Meanwhile, Prim smiles at me.

“I should turn the tables and ask why you’re here, Mr. Childers.”

My black brows rise and I smile. Ah, a woman who’s sassy with a provocative sense of humor. Even better.

“Well, I’m here to enjoy the company of a beautiful woman, and hopefully, I get something out of it at the end too,” I say in a silky tone. There’s no need to beat around the bush because we know how this night will end, even if sex isn’t technically required by the agency. But the girls always want it, and I’ve never had one say no.

Nonetheless, I decide to change the subject.

“Sweetheart, enough about that for right now. It’s too serious, and we just met. Tell me something New York about yourself, honey. What is it that makes you a New Yorker?”

Prim bites her bottom lip which only makes me want to reach forward and nibble that pinkness as well. But then, her eyes flash with humor.

“Well, I go into the same coffee shop every day. So earlier this week, I went into Amalfi’s and turned around with my latte in hand. Unfortunately, I bump into a lady dressed in a white linen shift with a beautiful amber necklace right behind me, and I mean not two inches away. When we collided, my coffee spilled on her. Just a tiny bit, mind you, but you could see the splash mark on that white dress.”

I raise an eyebrow and Prim continues.

“I know, I know. I apologize, but she still seems pissed, even if it wasn’t my fault. But then, she grabs her coffee, and comes back to stand in front of me. I try to get past but we’re doing that thing where you both slide from foot to foot, like you’re mirror images. Then, I realize she’s doing it on purpose.”

“Oh shit,” I growl, “I think I know how this ends.”

Prim giggles.

“Yes, because she tips her coffee over the top of my blouse in revenge! The hot liquid runs down my front, and it was scalding! There was so much that I was completely drenched, and she just smirked the entire time. Then, this is where it gets really New York - while she’s working to put her lid in place, I do the same to her and pour my cup on her. I know, it’s not very mature. Then we both started laughing, and we left the coffee shop together. I even got her name. It’s Priscilla and we’re going to hang out later this week.”

Barry laughs. “Yeah, I’d say that’s very New York. This is a tough city but there are moments of humor definitely. I’m sure you were magnificent.”

She smirks.

“We were both magnificent. But now it’s your turn, Mr. Childers. I’d like to hear an only-in-New York story from you too.”

I think for a moment.

“I’m afraid I don’t have anything as good as yours. Let’s just say I went into my favorite cupcake store recently and saw a couple things I liked.”

Prim shoots me an amused look.

“You like cupcakes? But you look like a man who watches what he eats, in addition to working out like a fiend,” she murmurs, scanning my broad chest and heavy thighs.

I nod.

“Hell yeah, I like cupcakes! It’s important to live a little, even if cupcakes are all sugar. But I like food in general because I need the calories to keep this body going.”

Prim giggles.

“So you had a cupcake?”

I shake my head.

“Not one cupcake. Not even two. Instead, I bought the store out.”

Prim gasps, her eyes gong wide.

“You bought all of your favorite flavors, you mean?”

I grin.

“Nope, even better. I bought everything they had in the shop that day because their stuff is so good, and I decided my staff could use a treat. So on a random Monday, my employees were gifted a huge, sugary breakfast.”

Prim giggles.

“They must have been so happy!”

I smile ruefully.

“Well actually, I already provide a light breakfast every day, but last Monday, they got cupcakes on top of bagels and coffee.”

Prim’s eyes go wide as her breasts heave.

“Oh wow. So do you work for yourself? Are these all your employees?”

I nod.

“Sort of, in a way. I used to have my own company but it got big, and then I sold it. It was great to leave at the top, and besides, it was time because I was losing interest. So now, I’m in philanthropy,” I shrug. “I’m the CEO of my own foundation and I give money away, instead of earning it.”
