“P-Theo? I have a feeling there’s a story there.” Jack grins at Perry, and I totally recognize his flirting smile. I’ve seen it enough to spot it a mile away.

Perry shrugs. “Maybe.” He turns to me. “I gotta be quick. I don’t usually come out here to take orders, but I wanted to say hi and see what you two want to drink.”

“I’ll just take a beer. I’m the driver tonight.” Jack’s gaze flickers back and forth between me and Perry, and I only notice because my gaze is doing the same, only between him and Perry. I want to be my normal me around Perry, but I’m also wondering if Jack will be able to tell I’m hooking up with him, and also afraid that Jack won’t know and will flirt, and then I’ll get all weird and jealous. I’m not the weird, jealous type. Okay, I’m weird, but definitely not jealous.

“Theo?” Perry cocks a brow at me. “Do you want another Screaming Orgasm?”

Don’t blush or giggle, don’t blush or giggle, don’t blush or giggle.

As far as I know, I’ve never giggled in my life, but Perry seems to make me do all sorts of things I never did before.

“Yes, please,” I answer, and it sounds a little subby and sexy, which I hadn’t done on purpose.

“My favorite.” Perry turns and heads back to the counter. Orange Curls is still there, but I see him talking to a guy with glasses. The guy leans over the counter and gives Orange Curls a kiss.

My face flames, and I feel a little action beneath my track pants, and—“I’m having sex with Perry!” I blurt, and slap my hand over my mouth. Shit. I hadn’t planned on saying that, but the words were dying to get out.

“This is new.” Jack gives me a kind, understanding smile.

“Yep. I didn’t realize I’m bisexual. The first night we met, he was apparently flirting with me. When we hung out, he thought it was a hookup, while I thought it was a friends’ chill night. Once we had that sorted, we decided to get to know each other as friends, and then I started feeling jealous, wanted to kiss him and jerked off to him—that has to mean I’m queer—and now we’re doing the friends-with-benefits thing.” I exhale a deep breath. “God, I needed to get that out.”

“Thank you for telling me and for trusting me with that piece of you. I know it can be difficult to come out.”

I just…came out. Holy fuck. “Thanks.” I draw circles on the table with the tip of my finger. “I’m not ready for everyone to know. Not because I’m ashamed or anything, but—”

“There is no but. If you’re not ready, that’s all that matters. No one should make that choice for you.”

I nod, unsure what else to say, but his words soothe an ache inside me I hadn’t known I had. Perry had basically said the same, but it feels good to hear it from Jack too.

“I do have a question, though.”

“What is it?”

“Are you sure you’re okay with being friends with benefits?”

I frown, unease swimming in my gut. “Of course. Why wouldn’t I be?”

Jack shrugs. “It’s not your usual MO.”

“I had sex with like four girls my freshman year.”

He chuckles and shakes his head as if he doesn’t know what to do with me. Why do I get that look so often from everyone?

“All girls who came up to you at a party or something and wanted to fuck. You didn’t sleep with any of them twice, and you weren’t friends with them either. The only person you’ve had sex with more than once was your girlfriend for two years.”

I shift uncomfortably, but apparently, Jack isn’t finished.

“The way you looked when you came home the other day and the guys were giving you shit, I told them to leave you alone because it seemed like you really liked the person. And when you looked at him now, I swear hearts shot out of your eyes.”

I have to swallow when my heart tries to leap up my throat and out my mouth. “Hearts didn’t shoot out of my eyes.”

“Yes. They did.”

“No, they didn’t.”

“Yes they—”

“Shh! He’s coming back!”

“One beer and one Screaming Orgasm.” He sets the drinks in front of us, and though I try not to look up at him, I can’t help myself.

He’s got a little piece of something by his mouth. I don’t know what it is, but I reach up and wipe it off with my thumb.

“Sorry…you had…something.”

“I took a bite of a cookie. You caught me.”

“I like cookies,” falls out of my mouth. I like cookies? What the fuck is wrong with me?

I drop my head to the table and bang my forehead a couple of times. I’m an idiot, and I need help.

“Hey. Don’t do that.” Perry slides his hand under me so the next time my forehead hits, it’s his palm.
