“You’re an idiot.” But I loved him too.

Pushing away from the counter, I stood and went to the restroom. Two guys were standing at urinals, another was washing his hands, and someone was definitely fucking in the far bathroom stall.

I stepped up to one of the urinals and had just pulled my dick out and started taking a piss when the door opened behind me, and someone said, “I can’t believe you asked that twinky bartender to move in with you.”

My gaze snapped up, and I turned to see two of the guys from the corner table walk in.

“Eh…he’s a little obnoxious, but I wanted to rent the room out anyway. Money every month and a live-in hole with no commitment. Ain’t a bad deal,” he replied, which had the two of them laughing.

Anger flared in my chest, an uncontrolled burn scorching my insides. I took a few deep breaths before tucking my cock away. Slowly, with measured steps, I went to the sink to wash my hands.

“Yeah, but what happens when you get sick of him?” the first guy asked.

I dried my hands.

“Then he’s gotta go. My house, my rules. Or maybe I’ll just change my mind after getting him to my place tonight.”

They laughed again, and it took everything in me not to lose my shit. I fucking hated bullies, hated people who didn’t care how they treated others.

I waited while they finished pissing. Then the asshole moved toward the sink, and I didn’t step out of his way.

“Excuse me,” he said, trying to move around me, but I slid to the side, staying in his way. “What the fuck, man?”

“Here’s what you’re gonna do: wash up and leave. I’ll be nice and pay your tab for you, but you’re not going to come back here. You’re also going to stay the fuck away from Kai. You don’t show him your apartment, you don’t try to fuck him, you don’t hit him up on Grindr. Nothing. You feel me?”

“Fuck you!” he spit out.

“You sure that’s how you wanna play this?”

He hesitated, looked at me, then said, “Fine. I don’t want him that bad anyway.”

One of the other guys in the bathroom laughed, but I just watched the bully, gaze still on him even when I stepped out of the way so they could wash their hands. I went out of the bathroom when they did, joining Corbin at the counter but not sitting as I watched the guy say something to his friends. Him and his buddy from the restroom turned to look at me before the two of them left the bar.

“What the fuck was that?” Corbin asked.

“Heard some shit in the restroom. I took care of it,” I told him, then to Declan, “you don’t want them here again. They come back, have security deal with it or tell me.” Declan nodded, not needing me to tell him what happened to trust me. “I got his bill. I’ll be right back.”

Kai was at the opposite end of the bar, passing drinks out. He clearly hadn’t noticed what had gone down. When he turned, he took a step and nearly ran into my chest.

“Is there something I can do for you, Marcus? If you’re curious, I’m on the menu.”

I ignored my cock, which had chubbed up at that. “Yeah, you’re moving in with me.” Without another word, I turned and walked away.

Chapter Four

Kai

“Excuse me, what?” I stepped along behind Marcus, but he kept going. I grabbed his arm when he had just about reached Corbin, twisting him around and making him bump into me. “Did you miss the part earlier where I said I get to decide what I do? Who said you can order me around?”

He sighed as if I were the one being unreasonable. “Are you telling me you don’t want to move in with me?”

Well, of fucking course I did. I wasn’t an idiot. “That’s beside the point.”

“Why?”

Hmm, why was it? Oh yeah. “Because you’re not the fucking boss of me!” But then, there were also times I wouldn’t mind that, and times I’d want it, so I amended, “Unless it has to do with sex. But you pretend you don’t want to fuck me, so we’re not screwing, which means no telling me what to do, and it would only be sometimes with sex, but—”

“Could the two of you do this somewhere else?” Declan asked, his voice raised so we could hear him. When I glanced around, people were watching us. Ricky was gone, I’d noticed, which made my annoyance spike to whole new levels.

“Did you say something to him?” I growled just as Corbin said, “Are you kidding, Dec? If you send them away, we’ll miss the show. No one talks to Marcus like this.”

Marcus turned to his friend. “Corb, you’re not helping.”
