“Get it together, Liliana Dulce Velazquez,” I mutter to the empty kitchen, putting everything in the right spot, leaving what can be left out on the counter but making sure it’s still tidy too. Then I take one last look around Beau’s place, a hopefulness in my heart that maybe this thing between us is more than the fake label I asked for.

Chapter 7

Beau

I have Lily’s horse tacked up and ready to go, making sure I put her in a good saddle, so she won’t be too sore. I wasn’t kidding about helping her relieve the sore muscles she’s sure to have after a couple of hours of riding. Though, if I had it my way, she’d be riding with me. I don’t think Lily is ready for that just yet, but it seems I’ll be getting a glimpse of those legs of hers. Something is definitely working in my favor.

Emma is standing patiently beside me, and I’m glad I worked her before Lily got here. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be as calm as a cucumber. The same can’t be said for Merle. This boy of mine is ready to go riding.

“I’m finally ready. Sorry it took so long. I kind of got lost looking at everything.” Her skirt is flouncing with every hurried step she takes, tantalizing me. Thoughts invade my mind, of my tongue licking a path up her inner thighs, tasting the flavor of her skin until I reach what I’m assuming is her cloth-covered cunt. And now I’m imagining her not wearing anything under that skirt. My poor cock is going to be permanently hard, and being on a horse, that won’t be very comfortable.

“That’s alright, honey.” I slide off of Merle and put the reins around the horn of the saddle. For the few minutes I’ll be helping Lily, he won’t go very far. He’ll be more interested in trying to eat the grass.

“They’re gorgeous, Beau.” Lily is rubbing Emma’s nose, allowing her to sniff her too. When Emma moves her head, wanting more, I’m thinking they’ll be the perfect fit.

“Thanks, Merle may talk a big game, but for the most part, he’s a big softie. You need a leg up to get on?” I ask.

“That would be great, unless you have a block?” she counters.

“It’s in the barn.” I don’t offer to get it, wanting my hands on her body.

“Do you mind just making sure I don’t fall? It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been on a saddle.” My ears are probably deceiving me, but the way her eyes darken, I’m thinking it’s more than just a horse she’s talking about.

“Not at all.” I walk up behind her as she places her left foot in the stirrup. My hands hold her hips, and I get more than a fleeting glance of her thighs when she hitches her body up and on Emma’s back.

“Shit,” I hiss out. My hands linger, and the feel of her is enough to have me battling my own desires to yank her off, toss her over my shoulder, and take her back to the house.

“Are you okay?” Lily asks.

“Yeah, honey. I’m perfect,” I tell her, turning around to get back on Merle. I can feel her eyes on my body the entire time.

Once I’m on and settled, I look at Lily. A smile is plastered on her face, her hair dancing across her face with the wind, not a care in the world. “Do you need some time in the arena to get used to being on her?”

“I should be fine. I might be slower at first, though, so if you want to go ahead of me, I’ll be okay too.”

“Nah, we’re good. I exercised Merle after we got off the phone. Emma too. She’ll be pretty lazy today, so we won’t be gone for too long.” We head out to the trails I have on my land. My ranch has about twenty acres, and with the help of my dad and brother, we’ve managed to make a few trails that lead to the creek on the back of the property. My eyes return to Lily’s. Merle and Emma know this place without me leading the way, giving me the time to start up a conversation.

“So, tell me more about this Chad guy. Has he bothered you lately?” I ask, dropping the reins and letting Merle do his own thing.

“This is so dumb, you know. We went on a coffee date, and then met another day for lunch. That was it. Sure, we texted a bit, but not to the point that I’d consider us close. I’m honest to God embarrassed, Beau.”

“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. It’s him who should be. You didn’t do anything wrong, but, honey, if a woman like you cut me off cold turkey, I wouldn’t stop just because you said no.” I’m probably giving her more than she asked for.
