“You two are assholes,” I tell him without any heat as I glance over and see Henry running around the room with Lilith on his back.
“We are.” He doesn’t waste any breaths denying it. “But you make it so fucking easy.”
“When you least expect it, I’m going to get my revenge.”
“You keep threatening that, but so far, you’re all talk and no action.” He’s determined to push all my buttons, but I’ll get the last laugh. “You actually got lucky this time. We originally planned to get her a professional drum set until she pulled out the pout and asked for a pony.”
Before I’m able to respond, my wife walks up. Her eyes meet mine, twinkling with humor. “Arguing over the pony?” she teases.
“Just making a point,” I lean down to whisper into her hair, glaring at her asshole brother over her head. I’d love to be a fly on the wall later tonight when he gets home and finds a herd of alpacas grazing in his perfectly manicured backyard.
Kat links her arm through mine. “I love you, Mr. Conti.”
“I love you, too, kitty.” I kiss her soft lips as the party winds down around us.
“Why did I find a charge for eight alpacas on the credit card bill?” She blinks up at me with an amused grin on her face, and I think for the millionth time today what a lucky motherfucker I am.

She glances over at her oldest brother and snorts. “Please tell me you have a video camera set up to get his reaction.” Her sense of humor and desire for revenge matches mine. My wife is fucking perfect for me.
“Of course.” I give her my best “duh” look. “It’s live streaming on the Trick or Treat website tonight.”
