I wonder just how much they have in common…

“Everywhere. Mainly in the art of manipulation—” She holds her brother’s stare. “—false complacency, strategizing, that sort of thing.” Her mouth splinters wide, flaunting her bleached teeth. Stella is a fucking kick in the nuts to people around the world, because the girl is famed for her beauty. But she’s a little witch, and I don’t mean her appearance.

I lean forward, resting my forearms on my thighs. “I wonder…” I tilt my head and seconds pass before Priest clucks from behind me. He no doubt knows what I’m about to ask. “Just how alike are you to your brother…” My tongue swoops over my teeth. “Wanna help me find out?”

If Halen thinks because my mom and Stella’s mom found out that they have the same mom would stop me from being a piece of shit, she’s wrong. Do I want Halen? More than I’ve wanted anything in my life, but do I love pain? More than anything in my life…

Stella’s leg stops jiggling and she shifts her body toward mine. “Are you into incest now?”

My lip twitches. “I’m betting you’re fucking worth it.”

“Back the fuck up. Play your games with anyone else…” Vaden rolls his eyes.

Priest passes the sofa that’s opposite her, reaching into the drug box and pulling out the bag of white powder. He tosses it onto the table. “He’s just keeping it in the family.”

And there it is.

I chuckle, resting my hand on my abs and the joint back between my lips. “Fine.” My eyes move to River. It all makes sense. Why we were told that one day, we would have to switch off our emotions to allow logic in.

It was for this. Because this was the plan all along.

The Elite Kings are no longer three. There are six of us, and fuck me.

Consider my shit switched.

I blow out a smoke ring. “Well, you’ve all come at the best time.”

Priest’s eyes turn heavy. “Truly…”

Halen

The trip into the forest is quick. Faded street signs from the old suburb that used to exist here are wilted, some with vines overgrowing as nature claws itself back from death.

I didn’t know much about Perdita when our parents were young, but the stories Mom told me were nothing like this. I’m guessing Katsia is nothing like her mentor expected her to be. It’s obvious that she’s operating it as she wants.

A single door stands beneath an ivory tree with branches that encase the metal. It looks like a portal to some fantasy land.

If only.

River clears her throat. “Is that not weird?”

I tuck my hair behind my ear as the boys’ heads turn toward it. They stop for whatever reason.

“We’ve seen worse,” I say through a tight throat. River stills beside me. It’s the first time since we were there that I have mentioned it.

“Do you think it has changed?” River asks. She’s not a princess by any means, but she does require more softness at times.

Stella’s arm brushes mine. “Evie is wondering where you are, by the way…” We’re good at this. Ignoring red flags, even the ones that signify a memory.

“I figured. I haven’t texted her back.”

“Why not?” Stella turns to me. She’s not wasting time with jumping into the family business. She needs to model instead. “Evie aside, we also need to keep our own hobbies too…”

“I know!” I widen my eyes at her as River snorts on her laugh beside me. “Let’s just… see what the fuck the boys have been doing.”

“Blood, sex, pain, I bet.”

We all stop when Priest stares back at us after opening the door. “Well, come on then…”

I take the first step, my Valentino boot crunching against the gravel. As soon as we’re inside, someone closes the door behind us, and it’s lights out.

“Okay, well, I guess we don’t need our face skulled if we can’t fucking see,” River teases from somewhere in the dark.

I take a step back while trying not to lose my balance and by using my other senses, when I collide into a wall of muscle. He doesn’t move, and I know it isn’t my brother or Vaden. Both of whom would waste no time in moving because, unlike War, they’re not into flirting with incest.

My heart jumps in my throat.

“You won’t need them going forward,” Priest says from somewhere in the dark.

My legs begin to quiver. I don’t want War to be this close to me.

His hand settles on my hip and my breath catches. Blanketed by darkness, there’s a part of me that wonders if anyone can see. His fingers pinch my skin, forcing me against the bulge of his cock. My breath hitches as I rest against him.

“You won’t be needing your face painted anymore,” Vaden adds from deep in the abyss.

My pulse drums against my skin when I feel the sting of War’s teeth glide over the nape of my neck. What the fuck is he doing? At any moment, a light could turn on and we’d get caught.
