“What about a baby?” he asks.

“What the fuck, Milo?” I wriggle my hands against the knotted tie, but at the same moment, he slides inside me, and I groan.

“You don’t want my babies?” he asks.

“Fucking hell.” I moan as his hips move.

“Not even one?” he pushes. “Think about it while I fuck you.”

I can’t think about it.

I’m not even sure if that’s something I want.

Why is he making me question everything with just the slide of his cock? It’s really unfair for him to be doing this to me right now, but I don’t hear myself complaining, either.

Maybe I do want these things with him.

I feel like life sent me down a path I didn’t quite agree on, but I took it anyway and made the most of it, and somehow, I ended up here—lying on the hood of a car, my hands bound, with a man whom I’ve tried to not see for so many years. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t seen me. Milo has been a constant in my life, and I have never had to ask for it. I don’t think he would purposely ever hurt me, not in the way that Cody did.

And I know I’m falling for him.

Being without him, not seeing him, was torture. How was I supposed to know that once I had a taste, I’d always want to go back? And not just because of the way he makes me come. No, it’s everything else and more.

Milo would be a great husband and father, and I have no doubt about that. And I get the feeling that it’s only with me that he would be that type of person. With everyone else, he is cold and calculating, barely showing his emotions, yet with me, he gives almost everything.

He slaps my ass hard as he pushes in. He is never one to rush, always making sure I’m pleased before he takes his own pleasure. He fucks me until I see stars, then continues until he does too. Not once pausing his rhythm.

When he comes, he pulls out, then unties my wrists, careful as he does so. When he gently flips me to my back, I lie there naked, watching him with sleepy eyes.

“You don’t like family,” I remind him. “And yet you ask me for a child.”

He chuckles. “With you, yes. Fuck, I’d even love to have a cat with you. And I hate fucking cats.” He picks me up and carries me inside the house.

I giggle. “Who doesn’t love cats? They’re cute.”

“Their piss stinks, and they scratch your eyes out,” he complains.

“And babies cry and scream all the time. They also piss and shit, which you have to clean up.”

“If it was our baby, I’d be down.” He winks and sets me on the kitchen counter.

“You have the ring already, don’t you?” I ask, staring at him.

He is ever so serious.

I can feel it.

“I do,” he replies, smiling. “I found it when you first returned. When we went shopping.”

“You bought a ring months ago?” I question, shocked. My mind races, trying to figure out the timeline and how I missed this. The thought of Milo planning this fills me with a mix of surprise and excitement.

“I just knew,” he confidently says as he goes to the freezer and pulls out a tub of ice cream.

“Can I see it?”

“No. First, I gotta make you fall for me the same way I’ve fallen for you. It’s only fair. You have time to catch up.” He winks, handing me a spoon.

Little does he know, I’ve already fallen.

I just need him to catch me.

But I have no doubt he will.

“Elizabeth.” He leans in and licks the ice cream from my bottom lip. “I fucking love you.”
