“Is this your way of saying you’re getting annoyed with me asking if you’re sure? And to let you get on with it?” His lips quirked, so she knew he wasn’t upset. In fact, his eyes looked like they were dancing.

“Yes.”

“You should just tell me to shut up and take it, baby.”

“That would be rude. But yes, shut up and let me touch you.”

He started laughing, but then he groaned. “You’re too damn cute.”

“And you’re going to be in trouble if you keep laughing like that,” she scolded as she drew the blankets back. He was dressed in a pair of navy blue and white striped pajama bottoms.

Those would need to come off.

“Would you be able to lie on the towel if I lay it out for you? Maybe I should change the sheets on the bed too.”

“You aren’t changing my sheets. Lay it down, I’ll get on it.”

She set the towel down and he shuffled onto it.

“You’ll have to help me with my pants, baby.”

He’d managed to get some pajama pants he’d had in a drawer here on last night.

“Of course.” She climbed onto the bed, and after some strain, Maxim raised his hips so she could shimmy them down until he was just in his boxers.

Lord. He was beautiful.

He seemed to think that beautiful wasn’t a masculine word. But that’s what he was.

“Like what you see?”

“Yeah. I do.”

He grinned. “I like that there’s no playing games with you, Rainbow.”

“That’s good. Because I don’t know how to play any.”

“You gonna touch me now or look some more?” he asked.

“I’d really like to do both.”

“Do what you like.”

Those were dangerous words. She settled next to him on the bed. He was lying closer to the side than the middle, so she could easily sit on the edge of the bed and reach all of him. Rinsing out the cloth, she started with his face and neck.

The easy parts.

Well, she’d thought they would be. Her heart raced and her hand trembled slightly as she moved down toward his chest. He had a swirling tattoo on the right side of his chest that went down his entire arm.

“Can I move your arm without it hurting?”

“So long as you’re not going to yank anything, you’re good,” he replied. “Well, there’s one thing you can happily yank.”

She paused. “Maxim!”

“Aston.” He grinned.

The truth was, she wasn’t horrified by that idea. She was intrigued. And a bit worried since she didn’t have any idea what she was doing. She raised his arm so she could wash along it.

Who knew that cleaning someone like this could be so . . . darn . . . sexy and intimate.

Maybe it wouldn’t be, if it wasn’t Maxim who she was touching.

“Would you like me to do that?” she asked as she moved the cloth over his chest. She ran it over his nipples, watching as he shivered. “Are you cold?”

“No.” He was staring at her intently, his gaze filled with heat. Hunger.

Oh.

This was . . . it felt good knowing that he wanted her. Because she felt the same.

She moved to his other arm. That seemed safer than tackling his abs.

Lord, he was built.

“You didn’t answer me,” she murmured as she rinsed the cloth again, then gathered the courage to move down his stomach.

“About what?”

“Would you like me to take care of things for you . . . down there?” She could see his hard dick pressing against his boxers. It seemed that getting stabbed hadn’t affected his libido.

He stiffened. “Down where?”

“There,” she whispered.

“Baby, if you can’t even say it, then I don’t think you’re ready to take care of anything.”

Urgh, she was acting like an idiot. “Your erection. Your hard cock. Your dick. Would you like me to word it any other way?”

“No,” he said tightly. “That works.”

Shoot. Had she really just asked him that? What a dork she was.

“I . . . I need another towel. And to warm up the water.” She darted back into the bathroom with the bowl, nearly spilling it.

“Baby, get back here.”

“In a minute.”

“Now. Or I’m coming to get you.”

She returned with just a new towel, before she’d managed to warm the water. She glared as she saw him attempting to sit up.

“Stay where you are.” She glared at him.

“I will if you will. Stop running around on your feet.”

“My feet are fine,” she told him.

“I will get Victor to tie you to the bed.”

“You will not.”

“Don’t try me, Rainbow. Why did you run off?”

“Because . . . because . . .” She really wanted to lie. Her gaze went to her feet, unable to look at him. “Because I can’t believe I just asked you if you wanted me to give you a hand job!”

Oops. She hadn’t meant to blurt that out.

“Ahh, so you were offering that.”

She glanced up to find him smiling. “You weren’t sure? No, of course you weren’t sure. Because that’s probably the most awkward offer you’ve ever heard.”
