My gaze finds his, holds it, silently demands that Sully doesn’t turn away from us. Out there in the world, he’s always in demand, in control, but here, when he gives himself to me, it’s always more fully and completely than anyone else ever has. Sully is mine to command and pleasure, and that’s the best kind of high.

“Do it. Come all over my hand. Get off for me right up against your truck in the parking lot at Buck’s. Show me you’re not that perfect, put-together man you want everyone else to think you are. Give it to me. I want your load.”

His body tenses, Sully damn near humping my leg while I jerk him off. His head drops back, smacks against the truck, corded muscles in his throat pulsing before the first spurt of cum coats my fingers.

“Porter, fuck! God yes!” He shoots again, still stroking me too, his pleasure contagious and making lightning launch up my spine. I give in, vision blurry as my balls draw up, my release spilling all over him as well.

We stand there like we don’t know what to do, bodies entwined, hands down each other’s pants, cum all over us, each other’s flavor on our lips. I lift my arm, don’t look away as I lick his salty load off my hand.

“That’s so damn hot.”

Before I can reply, a noise comes from the bar. We jerk apart, turning our backs to the building, shoving ourselves into our jeans and zipping up.

I look over my shoulder to see an employee taking out the trash and going back inside.

“He’s gone,” I say, unwilling to look at Sully. What the fuck is it about him? Why the hell can’t I keep away?

“Jesus, I can’t believe we just did that here.”

“We’re fine.” I run a hand through my hair, then pick up my hat and plunk it on my head. Really, I feel like an earthquake is shaking my insides. He always gets me all twisted up, and I don’t know how in the hell to untangle myself from him.

Sully says, “I didn’t mean for that to happen.”

“That makes two of us.” The thing is, I know he didn’t. If our situations weren’t what they are, if our families weren’t tied together the way they are, if I wasn’t all messed up inside, then I’d probably trust him. I’m pretty sure I’d started to. That’s why I went to him the night my momma died, but seeing him with Aimee just fucked me up even more.

“Porter,” Sully says as I pace the parking lot. When I don’t reply, he says, “Porter,” again, this time from closer. He puts his hand on my shoulder, and damned if I don’t stop, if I don’t stay still while he comes around to face me. “I want you.”

Goddamn him. We both know I want him too, but leave it to Sully to hammer home the truth with so much sincerity.

“You sure that’s proper, boss?”

He rolls his eyes. “We can play around with that if you like it, but don’t use it to push me away.”

What if it’s the only way I know how to do this?

I can stand here all day and pretend this won’t happen again, but just like when we were younger, I know that once we give in, it’s too hard to keep our hands off each other. I want him too much, want to see the way he bites his lip sometimes when he comes, hear the noises he makes for me, and know how fully Sully gives himself to me when it’s just us. Bet he wasn’t like that with Aimee—so open and needy.

My throat is tight, but I still manage to get words out. “If it happens, it’s nothing more than fuckin’, just like before.”

“Hell, I’m not even out. I’m not asking to marry you. I just want us to keep being civil to each other, and if something happens, we let it.”

My hand finds its way to his hip, heat still radiating off his body. How the fuck am I gonna do this without letting him in? I should get into my truck, drive outta Laurel Springs and never come back. No good will come of staying. Being around Sully makes me forget I’m my father’s son, forget the things he used to say, and want to see the past in a new light.

I don’t have words, have never been real good at those, so I answer by leaning in and taking his mouth again. It’s not the kind of kiss that’s a prequel to fucking, but it’s the kind of kiss that says, Yes, we both want this, and I’ll give it to you. My tongue lashes at his lips, and Sully lets me in, right there where anyone can see us. The second that computes, I pull away. I have my head about me better than I did earlier, and while I won’t hide who I am, I’m not going to out him either.
