I slowly spin and look way the heck up into Owen’s stormy, dark emerald eyes. “Uh.” All the spit in my mouth instantly dries up.

“Come with me, spitfire.” He grabs my hand and tugs me off the barstool before glancing over my head to address the bartender. “Make sure no one disturbs me.”

Before he drags me away, I reach over and grab my mug of cider, knowing I’m going to need all the liquid courage I can get.

Owen pulls me into a massive, beautifully decorated office and slams the heavy wooden door shut.

The next thing I know, he takes the cold mug from my hand and places it on the table next to the door before pressing me against the hard wood with his muscular body.

“Fuck, I missed you, spitfire,” he growls against the side of my neck before gently closing his teeth over the sensitive spot at the base of my throat. “I was just making plans to come and kidnap your gorgeous little ass.”

I press my head back against the hard door behind me and stare up into his eyes. “You know who I am?”

Hurt roars through me at the thought he knew who I was the whole time.

“I just found out yesterday.” His breath brushes my lips before he covers my lips with his. While he devours my mouth, I melt against his muscular body and breathe in his warm, masculine scent.

Sparks sizzle down my spine as he drags me closer and runs his tongue along the inside of my mouth. I feel wetness drip from my core as his hard erection presses against my tummy.

I lose track of time as Owen reminds me of what I’ve been missing since the morning I snuck out of his hotel room.

When he pulls back and places his forehead against mine and stares down into my eyes, I take the opportunity to draw in several deep breaths. “I almost went insane when I woke up and found you gone.” My heart squeezes in my chest as he continues. “Why the fuck did you run out on me, spitfire?”

It’s time to lay my cards on the table. “I saw your tattoo and realized you’re Justice’s brother.” I figure he already knows everything if he investigated me, so there’s no use beating around the bush at this point. “I freaked out and ran.”

“What made you come strolling into my brewery tonight?” He stares down at me with narrowed eyes.

“I decided I don’t care about the complications. I want you.” I’ve never been this forward. In fact, I’m usually the shy introvert hiding behind her music, but something about Owen Wild turns me into this confident woman ready to do whatever it takes to get her man.

“That’s a good thing because I fucking want you, too.” His smile lights up his entire face, making him look years younger than his actual age. “I know I’m too goddamn old for you, and I should step back and let you find someone closer to your age, but I’m a selfish motherfucker. I can’t walk away now that I’ve found you.”

Wow. I almost melt into a puddle of goo at the possessive heat shining from his dark green eyes. “Age is just a number,” I tell him. “I don’t care about the difference in our ages.”

“I’m glad, spitfire, because I don’t think I could force myself to give you up even if I wanted to.”

Wow. Things are moving fast, and I should be terrified but I’m not. Swallowing, I ask, “So, where do we go from here?” While I wait for him to answer, I step back and reach for my mug of cider, needing the liquid courage now more than ever.

“We get to know each other.” He smiles and takes my hand before leading me over to the brown leather sofa across from his massive oak desk. “Then I’m going to tie your little ass to me forever. You won’t ever get away from me again, spitfire.”

“I think we have a lot to learn about each other before we make forever plans.” My reasonable side takes over, squishing my impulsive side’s intention to jump in with both feet without weighing the consequences. “I mean, you might snore. That would definitely be a dealbreaker for me,” I joke.

“I don’t fucking snore.” He leans over and nips my bottom lip. “I can see you’re going to keep me on my toes, spitfire.”

“Bet on it,” I agree and take a deep breath. “All joking aside, I’d like to slow things down a little and get to know each other.”

“I’m willing to take it slower if that makes you happy, but I want you to know where I’m planning for us to end up.” He runs his thumb across the back of my knuckles, and the light touch is enough to send my pulse skyrocketing. I’m in so freaking much trouble here.
