I smelled and heard and felt everything around me.
It was painful as much as it was pleasure.
Bones snapped. Skin tore. Incisors turned into fangs, and my nose morphed into a snout.
And after it was all said and done and I was standing on all four paws, my beast shook out its heavy pelt and howled at the ecstasy of being shifted.
Although I was still very much present within my Lycan and could shift back at will at any second if I wanted to, I let my animal be dominant right now. He needed that extra bonding with our Ainslee.
And when he looked upon her, a low, pleasured sound left his massive chest.
I heard the way she gasped as she stared at my wolf. I watched as her eyes widened in shock… in happiness. My wolf inhaled the scent of her amazement as it filled the air with its sweetness.
He shook out his thick coat, his body a massive thing, a frightening display to anyone who liked upon him. But our mate wasn’t afraid. She was filled with wonder, and that pleased us to no end.
She may be a hybrid, unable to ever shift, and not as strong as her full-blooded brethren, but she still housed a powerful wolf. She was still strong whether she knew it or not.
My wolf moved closer, a predatory animal that would forever stalk her. His head was lowered, his eyes trained on her. As they forever would be.
And when she reached out with shaky fingers and stroked his side, her eyes closing and a smile forming on her lips, a low sound of happiness left the beast.
He moved closer still, and she tunneled her hand farther into our fur. My human side hummed in pleasure at how good it felt to have her hands on us, to know that she accepted both sides of us without fail.
“You’re so beautiful,” she whispered and rested her head on my wolf’s side. My wolf butted his head against her small shoulder, and she laughed softly. “I wish I could shift so we could run together.”
My wolf made another low sound in approval and gently butted his nose against her cheek. He then inhaled her, a gruff sound leaving his massive throat in a torrent of vibrations.
It didn’t matter if she could or couldn’t; it wouldn’t have mattered if she wasn’t part of the Otherworld either. She was ours and would always be so.
“That’s right,” she said softly as she continued to pet us. “I’m yours. I’m both of yours, the same as you’re mine.”
And then my wolf crouched down, presenting his back to her, urging her silently on what to do. My Ainslee didn’t even hesitate as she gripped the thick fur on my wolf’s back and lifted onto him easily, straddling him and keeping a tight hold on the neck fur. And when we rose, a small sound escaped her lips, and she gave another soft laugh.
“This is… incredible.” She stroked my animal’s head gently. “You’re both so incredible.”
She had no idea how incredible this was to both me and my wolf. To know she was really here, that she accepted us, wanted our lives forever entwined, had my wolf tipping his massive head back and roaring out.
She made another soft sound, and then the beast took off, taking our mate through the forest, winding through the trees, mindful of low hanging branches, careful with our most precious cargo.
We explored the property, showing our mate with sight and smell what was ours… what was hers. She’d accepted us, and we’d give her the world. We’d give her anything and everything.
And hearing her laugh, scenting her pleasure, was the greatest gift she could ever give us.
She was a treasure… our treasure.
I could never imagine caring for anything as much as I did my Ainslee.
I could never imagine loving anyone as much as I did her, and I wished I could tell her that, but words nor actions could ever convey the true depth of my emotions for her.
So it would forever be my goal to keep trying harder than the last day to let her know how very special she was to me, and I looked forward to doing that until the day I took my last breath.

Ainslee
I didn’t know what woke me, but the urge to snuggle against Luca was strong, so strong I was doing just that.
My cheek pressed to his warm, solid chest, my arm wrapped around his rippling torso, and the feel of his body keeping me close had sleep rising up and claiming me once more.
But then I heard it again… whatever it was.
Something inside me woke up. Not my inner wolf, but my vampire side, hearing a calling, a pull.
A tug to come closer.
I slowly pulled myself up and glanced around the room. This feeling made no sense. We were alone, miles upon miles from anyone else.
