“You know, I’ve realized something since I’ve been here.”

“What’s th—” His words stopped as I began to use the heel of my hand to massage the tightened muscle, which felt like a rock. He sucked in his breath, squeezed his eyes shut.

“It’s okay to let me know that it hurts.”

“I’m fine,” he growled.

“Sure you are.”

“Finish what you were saying, dammit.”

His thigh was starting to ease under my hands. Hopefully talking about myself would distract him and allow me to keep massaging him. “I realized my life isn’t all that great. Most of my friends have moved on either to other cities or to a different life stage with marriage and kids. I work all the damn time just to try and move up in the firm. And how happy would I be after making partner? Sure, I’d make more money, but would I become a fucking asshole like everyone else higher up than me? Even before I knew what they were really up to, I knew the senior partners were despicable human beings.”

Dom sucked in his breath when I hit a particularly tender spot.

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. Why did you stay at the firm if you were miserable?”

“I convinced myself it was what I wanted, and there are aspects of the job I enjoy. Also, I put in so damn much work and so much money. How could I just quit?” I glanced up at him and he frowned.

“What are you planning to do when the trial is over?”

“I don’t know. I’ve got to have some way to support myself.”

“You wouldn’t if you….” He stopped, and I looked up.

“If I what?”

Dom looked away. “Nothing.”

Something about his tone kept me from pushing him. I was almost afraid to find out what he’d been going to say. I was worried he had something insane in mind like me working for the Marchesi family. I focused on his leg, working the tight muscles until he was able to bend his knee and move more easily.

“You know, you could’ve laid down. I would gladly have lain over you and taken your cock just as deep.”

He glared at me. “I wanted you underneath me. I wanted to pin you down.”

I sucked in my breath.

“Does that scare you?”

“Do you want it to?”

“Maybe.” He blew out a breath. “I don’t like limitations.”

“Of course, you don’t. But maybe we could figure out a way to make that position easier on your leg.”

He shook his head. “I don’t need concessions. I can still—”

“You can still kill anyone who comes against you?”

He hesitated for just a second. I knew he doubted even that was true. No one was perfect.

“I believe you will protect me.”

He met my gaze then. “You do?”

“Yes.”

He pushed my hands away. “I’m fine now.”

“Then come lie down with me.”

He shook his head. “Go take a shower. I have things I should be doing.”

“What you should be doing is sleeping.”

“I don’t do a lot of that.”

“Dom, come lay down.” He scowled at me. I was sure he hating being ordered around. “Please.”

“Fine, but only because you were scared.”

“Not because I just gave you the best blowjob of your life?”

He raised his brows, and I laughed as I turned over and curled up. A few moments later, he fitted himself against my back. When I wiggled my ass against him, he was already half hard again.

“Stay still.” He smacked my thigh, and I looked at him over my shoulder.

“Are you ready to go again?”

“You told me it was time to sleep.”

“Well, yeah, but if you….”

He glared at me, but he no longer looked icy. I wondered if I’d ever think of him as cold again after the way he’d fucked my mouth. “Stay still and stop talking.”

“What do you have against talking anyway?”

“Corey.”

I grinned. “Yes, sir?”

“That’s better. Now be a good boy and go to sleep.”

His words made me shiver. “How am I supposed to be good when you keep saying things like that?”

“I’ll send you back to your room.”

That was the last thing I wanted. “Fine. I’ll be quiet.”

“You’re really not afraid of me, are you?”

“No. I mean, kind of, but not really.”

“You don’t have to be.” He kissed the back of my neck and wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me tight against him.

I sighed and closed my eyes. “Don’t leave me alone, okay?”

“Never.”

I let myself sink into the mattress. He was here to protect me. I was safe.

The next thing I knew, I was opening my eyes to the sun peeking through his heavy curtains. It was much too bright for winter in Boston, but then, so was the feeling I had inside when I thought about the night before. Damn, it had been so good.

I’d sucked off plenty of guys, but I’d never experienced anything like that. I wanted to give Dom everything I had, everything I was. I wanted to be his completely. It felt like a gift when he came down my throat.
