Celeste and the two men stared at her.
“You don’t have to ask for a break,” Celeste told her. “Take however long you want. Just jump back in when it gets busy.”
“Okay.”
Embarrassed at the looks they gave her, she went to the kitchen to take out the food she had brought, but came to a standstill when she saw Lola bent over the kitchen table while Wizard pounded his cock into her. She started to back out, but hunger gnawing on her stomach had her rushing to the refrigerator. She grabbed her container and hurried out, wishing she could block out the sounds they were making. Eating in the kitchen like she had yesterday was out of the question.
When she returned the bar area, her eyes were caught by Doom’s amused gaze. Never in her life had she ever wanted to flip someone off more.
She placed the container in the microwave then turned off the bar lights before starting it. As the food reheated, Arden grabbed herself a bottled water and a plastic fork. When it was finished, she turned the lights back on then turned around.
The whole bar was staring at her.
Seeing an empty stool next to Puck and Burn, Arden walked around the bar to take the stool. She self-consciously started eating while the talking in the bar returned to normal. She was aware others were still watching, though.
“What are you having?”
Arden finished the bite of food she had taken before answering Puck’s question. “Meatball Napoli and garlic knots.”
“Smells fantastic.”
“Would you like one of the knots?”
“God, yes.”
Arden laughed and gave him one. “If you tear it apart, I’ll give you one of the meatballs.”
Puck quickly tore the knot open, and she gave him a meatball before she resumed eating.
“How does it taste?”
Arden looked up from her food in surprise when Burn asked Puck about the food.
Puck’s bliss-filled expression said it all. “Damn, this is one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth.” Puck opened his eyes. “Where’d you get it?”
“Mama’s Spaghetti. I work there. She gives me a tray of them every week on Sunday. I texted Doom last night, letting him know that I wanted to bring some today to share, but he told me no. He said Wizard didn’t want me to make a habit of bringing food to share. Something about the members being spoiled in Kentucky and Wizard didn’t want it to happen here.”
From the expressions on the faces surrounding her, Arden thought she should have kept those texts to herself. However, she consoled herself that Doom had basically said the same thing when she first asked to become a Last Rider in front of everyone.
She noticed Celeste, Burn, and Hawk unashamedly watching her, so she tore the knots in half and added meatballs, then divided the food among them. Neither Celeste nor Burn refused the offering, leaving her only the same portion she had given them. Hawk, however, started to refuse the one she offered him. Arden didn’t let him.
“It’s okay. I still have almost a full tray at my place.”
Puck looked like he was ready to snatch it out of Hawk’s hand. “Give me your phone,” he growled at her.
Arden didn’t argue. She reached into her pocket and gave it to him.
“I’m giving you my number. Next time you want to bring food, call me. I’ll be waiting at the door. I dare the motherfuckers to say anything to me.”
Arden grinned. “I can do that.”
“My brother is going to be pissed he missed out.” Puck frowned at Burn and Hawk, who didn’t seem concerned as they finished their portion.
“Your brother?” Arden asked, taking her last bite of food.
“Buck.”
“Buck is your brother?”
“Yes.” Puck nodded. “We’re twins.”
Thank God she had already swallowed her food. “Twins? You don’t look anything alike.”
“We’re fraternal, not identical.”
“That’s why your nicknames are so similar.”
“Yeah.” Puck grinned. “Not because we’re too lazy to come up with better names.”
Arden moved the food container away then placed her head on the bar. “I’m never going to live down saying that, am I?” she mumbled.
Puck laughed. “Don’t worry; worse has been said about us.”
Arden raised her head. “How about next Sunday, I bring you and Buck your own tray of meatballs and garlic knots?”
He gave her a worshipping gaze. “Put it this way—and I speak for Buck, too—all is forgiven.”
CHAPTER 12
THE DISS
Doom shot the seven ball into the side pocket. Looking up, he noticed how several of the brothers were glaring at him angrily. Wizard was receiving his share of cutting gazes too.
“Why is everyone staring at us like they want to hit us with a pool cue?” Doom asked Wizard just as he was about to take his own shot.
Wizard glanced up from the table. Straightening, he returned their glare. The brothers didn’t shift their eyes away from him like they normally would.
