He tried not to think about the fact her pussy was right next to his back, or that he imagined he could feel the heat of her surrounding him.
Now was not the time to be getting aroused.
Chapter Six
Three Days Later
“I am so pleased you don’t want to go exploring,” Dylan said.
Robin kept her eyes closed, even behind the sunglasses. They’d been at this luxury island for the past three days, and she couldn’t remember a time she’d felt so relaxed. They didn’t have any Internet signal at all, so they were completely away from that kind of technology. They’d enjoyed evenings of watching movies and all other kinds of luxuries that didn’t require a signal to get online. It was peaceful.
“What is there to explore? It’s a beautiful island and if we ever come here again, maybe we can go exploring, but you, my friend, need to relax.” She had a feeling Dylan needed to embrace relaxation and just enjoy some time away from life. They were still able to be contacted via telephone and she’d given the builder their number in case he needed it.
Until they were back home, there was no point in worrying. All of that was for after they found some inner peace.
They had set up two loungers in front of the house, and they were both sitting, just enjoying the late afternoon sun. Neither of them had gotten up early, and so enjoyed a late lunch together before taking a walk along the beach, and then coming back to relax.
She heard Dylan move and she opened her eyes, glancing over in his direction. He wore a pair of swim shorts, that was all, and was currently getting a tan all over.
“I don’t suppose you’d be willing to rub some of this in?” Dylan asked.
“Did you set an alarm?” Robin asked. She heard a little bleep before he’d gotten up.
“I want a tan, I don’t want to burn.”
This made her laugh, but she swung her legs off the side of the lounger and moved toward him, taking the bottle of cream from his hands, smearing it over hers, and then applying it to his back. She hummed as she did this, trying not to think about how good his back felt, or the defined muscles beneath her touch.
In the past couple of weeks, she had started to notice Dylan more and more, as a man. Not just as her neighbor. She had enjoyed him staying with her, which had become a shock to her, because she didn’t think she’d like it so much. Dylan was actually a lot of fun to be around, and she had noticed they were quite similar in their interests.
Dylan hadn’t necessarily been hurt. She did believe him when he said he didn’t love his wife. He’d already explained their situation—her saying she was pregnant and him attempting to do the right thing. It had all been lies. Dylan was angry.
He’d been a gentleman, and his ex had thrown everything into his face. If she ever saw that woman, she had a feeling she’d slap her.
Robin tried to think of everything else, like going back home and dealing with the problem in Dylan’s kitchen. She tried not to acknowledge the feel of him beneath her touch. How hard and good he felt. His skin was soft to the touch, even though at the same time he was also hard.
She felt an instant hit of heat between her thighs and wanted to ignore it. She and Dylan were friends, nothing more, nothing less. Just friends. Some would say grumpy friends.
She gritted her teeth and then pulled away. “All done. You are now protected from the sun.”
Moving back to her lounger, she was pretty sure she felt him stroke the outside of her thigh, but there was no way he was doing that.
“I think you’re going to need some cream,” he said.
She glanced over at him and he’d already sunk to one knee, and now he touched her leg. He started at her calf and his touch was so soft, she nibbled her lip, and then forced a smile.
“Okay,” she said, holding her hand out for the lotion, but she’d left it with Dylan.
“Take your shirt off,” he said. “I’ll apply this, you sit back and relax. Imagine you’re getting a massage.”
She wore a one-piece bathing suit underneath the shirt. Robin felt a little nervous, but she removed the shirt from her body and folded it up beside her chair.
Dylan had removed his sunglasses, but she didn’t dare look into his eyes, just in case. She didn’t know what she might find, but she’d rather keep the illusion inside her head.
She tensed up as he started at her feet, more importantly, her ankles. Robin had never considered her feet erogenous zones but with Dylan touching her, she was struggling to keep focus. A little moan escaped her.
