"I can’t even try to get them back on." She holds one of the shoes up, and I put my head back and laugh. She drives home, neither of us saying anything, and when we get to my house, she parks in the garage. When I took the job in Dallas, it was the first time I felt like I had to do things on my own. This house was the first thing I bought on my own. I had my aunt Zoe help find me a place, and I was lucky it came furnished since the owners were moving out of the country. The only things I replaced were the mattresses in all the rooms.

We walk up the three steps to the mudroom. "Night," she mumbles, going toward the stairs to the bedrooms. "See you in the morning."

Walking to the kitchen, I grab a water bottle from the fridge and head upstairs to my bedroom. It’s the only place I’ve truly decorated, and it’s what sold me on the house, to be honest. The floor-to-ceiling windows lead out to a covered patio set. When I visited, I could picture myself sitting out there looking at the stars. But in the two weeks I’ve lived here, I have yet to even step foot outside. Walking into the room, I shrug off my jacket and walk right past my bed toward the walk-in closet. I kick off my shoes, then grab my shorts and tank top. Slipping under the covers, I lean over to turn off all the lights, then pull the covers up to my chin. I look out the big windows, and it takes me less than a minute to fall asleep.

As we meandered down the hotel hallway, our hands brushed against one another’s. "This is me." He stopped in front of his door. "Which one is yours?"

"Three floors up," I told him as I stepped closer. I smelled his musky cologne, and it was a good thing that this dress had a built-in bra because my nipples were aching to be touched. "Are you going to invite me in?" I asked as my hand rubbed up the lapel of his jacket.

His hand wrapped around my waist as he pulled me to him, and I felt his cock on my stomach. "You're playing with fire," he hissed.

"It’s okay." I wrapped my arms around his neck. "From the feel of it, you have a hose to—" I didn’t even have time to finish before he attacked my mouth. His tongue slid with mine, and I didn’t even feel my feet touch the floor.

He turned us, and in the blink of an eye, we were behind closed doors. The cold door hit my back, making me arch forward. "I have to taste you," he said as soon as he let go of my mouth. He lifted the long dress, and for once, I was happy I went with the loose bottom instead of the tight mermaid style. "No panties," he hissed right before his tongue came out and licked through my slit. He had his fingers in me, his tongue all over me, and after a minute, I came on his hand. "Your pussy tastes like honey." He continued to lick me long after I came.

My hands going to his hair, fisting it. "My pussy needs to be fucked."

The covers move off me, and my eyes fly open. "Your spare bedroom is haunted," Vivienne says as she slides into bed with me.

I laugh, turning as the sun shines into my face. “What time is it?”

“A little after eight,” she mumbles. I wait a couple of seconds, and I know she’ll get up. She can never just lounge. If she’s up, she’s out of bed. “Coffee?”

We have coffee and get dressed, then head over to my parents' place in Dallas. I walk in and can smell the cooking. "Hey!" Vivienne shouts from the front door. "Is everyone decent?" The last time we came early, we were the ones surprised and then scarred for finding our parents on the couch. One should never have to see their parents that way.

"Very funny," my mother says, coming down the stairs. "Your father is in the kitchen."

She comes over and gives us each a hug and a kiss. I walk into the kitchen, still unsure and not really myself.

"Hey," I greet when I walk into the kitchen. My father looks up from his iPad, and he smiles.

"Vivienne," my mother says, "would you like to come with me outside?" Vivienne looks at me, not sure what to do. "They’ll be fine." My mother puts her hands on her hips. "Besides, we'll be outside."

"You don’t have to go outside," I inform them, leaning against the counter, looking at my father. "There really isn’t much to say." I tilt my head to the side. "I got a job offer, and I took it. I don’t know what the big deal is. When Cooper got traded from New York, did you go off on him?"
