“Studio playdate,” he laughed softly.

“Ty’s word.” I grinned.

He sighed and cuddled close to me. “I was a douchebag. When I figured out you really liked him, I got scared and lashed out. You know how I get.” He swallowed and gathered my hand in both his, and he pressed his lips to my knuckles. “I can see it, you know. The appeal of the vanilla. I share something similar with Lane, after all. It’s nice to go out and just…be with him. Whether we go to a club or we cuddle on the couch. There’s no… And don’t get me wrong—you know neither of us is vanilla to the core, but it’s still a weight off when we can push the kink aside for a minute sometimes.”

I understood perfectly. It didn’t mean I wanted any less kink in my life. That was the lifestyle my very soul needed—with Macklin.

“Lane’s your de-stressor.”

“Exactly.” He smiled up at me. “And I fully support Ty being yours.”

I cupped his cheek and dipped down and kissed him slowly. “I love you.”

“I love you more.”

Impossible.

Macklin chuckled into the kiss, causing me to back away and raise a brow.

“I’m sorry.” That just made him laugh. “I’m picturing you two going to farmers markets together.”

What was so funny about that? It sounded lovely to me. “Well, I’d much rather do that—and swim with sharks, mind you—than grind up against him in an overcrowded nightclub with music that drowns out my thoughts.”

His grin was so damn beautiful, even more so when his eyes glistened the way they did. He didn’t have to tell me he was happy. I saw it. I felt it. It mirrored my own feelings.

My confidence was back.

“We should get some sleep,” I murmured. “Tomorrow mornin’, we’re gonna sit down and discuss a better protocol for us. With tons of boundaries and structure.”

“Fuck yeah,” he whispered. “And I’mma make my man the best breakfast.”

I growled playfully against his cheek, looking forward to it already.

I was looking forward to getting our wedding bands back on our fingers too.

Something for me to plan out properly.

“I’m just gonna text Ty and let him know we survived the evening.”

Macklin snorted softly and sat up with an impressive bed head. “I guess I should find my phone. I’ll send Lane a goodnight message. Actually, I’ll do that in the bathroom. My Master’s swimmers are leaking out of me.”

I laughed as I reached for my phone in my pants on the floor. “Always so eloquent, my love.”

“You know it!”

I shook my head in amusement and opened up my text conversation with Ty.

All quiet on the western front. Macklin and I are off to bed. Next time, I hope I get to enjoy a whole steak with you, but I’m glad I got to work things out with Macklin. See you tomorrow. We will be in Mclean around four PM.

CHAPTER 6

Walker McKenna

When we made our way out to Mclean the following afternoon, the air in the car was charged with hope and bliss.

We’d had a wonderful day so far, and it was going to get even better.

“Wait, so you’re just gonna be with your snakes all night?” Macklin asked. He was on the phone with Lane. “How can you say that? It’s not like you’d choose Frank and Ziggy over me.”

Oh dear.

“Lane…?” Macklin pressed.

Even I heard Lane’s laugh on the other end.

I smiled and shook my head. I’d texted Lane this morning, confirming he wasn’t coming with us today—which I actually would’ve preferred, and not only because Ty was coming. But Lane had been firm. He wanted an evening to himself. And that was what worried me.

Even though he couldn’t be Macklin’s sub at the moment didn’t mean I wanted him out of my sight.

“Fine, go be a hermit,” my boy muttered. “Just a sec—I’ll ask Master.” He faced me and lowered his phone temporarily. “May I see Lane tomorrow for lunch?”

Rule number one: The property will ask for permission before making plans with Lane. These dates might coincide with Master seeing Ty. Both Master and property must be present for group play to be approved.

“Absolutely,” I assured. “We’ll be back in town before noon.”

He threaded our fingers together, and I gave his hand a squeeze. “Lunch, it is. You in the mood for Jaleo, babe?”

Oh, that was a good restaurant. “Your Master might ask you to bring takeout,” I whispered.

He chuckled. “Obviously. No—I was just answering Walker. I don’t think I need to make reservations, but I’ll check just in case. One o’clock good?”

A moment later, the boys had a date planned for tomorrow, and I had decided to spend the afternoon in my studio. Maybe Macklin could bring the food there when he was done. I’d planned on buying a microwave for my workshop anyway.

Leaning forward a bit, I glanced up and saw nothing but a dark gray sky. Snow mixed with rain, and according to the forecast, that was going to continue throughout the weekend.
