“Ew. La-la-la.” She put her fingers in her ears. “I do not need to hear these things about my brother.”

“Hear what about me?” Aidan asked as he walked into the room. “They’re all asleep. What the heck did you two do to them today?” He sat on the sofa next to Livvy and drew her close.

“What did we do to them? What about what they did to us?” Greer asked. “I’m exhausted and all I did was run around after Wyatt all day. That kid can move.”

She was grateful for the distraction, though. It made it easier to forget that she was back in Montana. Back where Matthew had . . . okay, she wasn’t going to think about that.

“Are you guys all packed for tomorrow?” She was going to drive them to the airport. Aidan had bought a seven-seater SUV so they could all fit comfortably.

Her rebel brother, the family man.

It blew her mind.

“Actually about that . . .” Aidan said. “I’ve decided you’re coming with us.”

“What?”

He frowned. “I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before. You’ll come with us. It will be perfect. I just need to talk to the hotel about getting you a room next to ours as I don’t want you on a different floor. I’ll book the plane ticket now and call them.”

“Whoa. What the heck are you talking about?” She sat up straight, trying to get her tired brain to comprehend what he was saying.

“You’re coming with us. Much better idea than you staying here.”

“No, it’s not.”

Livvy stared from one to the other with wide eyes.

“Yes, it is,” Aidan replied firmly.

“Um, Sav, I don’t think Greer wants to go with us,” Livvy said.

“She’s coming.” Aidan crossed his arms over his chest. “It’s the best idea.”

“It’s a stupid idea.” Anger pushed energy into her and she jumped to her feet, meeting his glare with one of her own. “I’m not going.”

Aidan stood as well. “Yes, you are, young lady.”

“Oh, you did not just young lady me.” She poked him in the chest. “You’re my brother, not my keeper, Aidan Savage. And you do not get to boss me around.”

“I’m just trying to keep you safe.” There was a note of something in his voice.

Vulnerability.

Fear.

It sliced through her anger. She let out a tired sigh. What was she doing? This was the man who had sacrificed so much for her. She had no right to fight with him.

No. She owed him everything.

“You’re right. I’m sorry. I’ll pay for the ticket and hotel room if you let me know how much it costs. It will be fun.”

Maybe.

It wasn’t that she didn’t love the idea of a vacation. But the idea of all those people kind of freaked her out.

“Good.” Aidan breathed a sigh of relief.

Livvy cleared her throat. “Greer?”

“Yes?”

“Do you want to go with us?”

“I . . . of course. I love you guys. It will be fun.”

Livvy snorted. “Yeah. You’ll never make it as an actor. Daddy, she doesn’t want to come.”

Aidan frowned. “It will be safer for her.”

“Will it?” Livvy asked gently. “Are you thinking of her? Or yourself? She won’t be in danger staying here.”

“She’ll be on her own.”

Okay, now this was fun to watch. She sat back down.

“Greer, who do you live with in Savannah?” Livvy asked.

“Um, no one.”

“And have you ever been in danger?”

“Only of passing out when Mr. Helmet Head wears too much hair spray.”

Livvy turned to Sav. “She’ll be fine here. She’s got Duke next door. Besides, any of the guys will come running if she even stubs her toe and you know it. Because you threatened to castrate them if they didn’t.”

“I didn’t go that far,” Aidan said. “I want to spend time with my sister.”

“Uh-uh.” Livvy waggled a finger. “Do not try to guilt or bully her into coming with us. It’s not fair. She gets to live her own life without you bossing her around.”

“Boom. You tell him, sister!” Greer pumped her fist into the air.

Livvy grinned as Aidan sighed. Long and loud.

“Is this the way it’s going to be? The two of you ganging up on me?”

“Yep!” she replied. “I always wanted a sister, Livvy.”

A sad look crossed Livvy’s face.

“Shit. I’m sorry.” Good one. Way to put your foot in your mouth. Idiot.

Suddenly, Livvy got up, then wrapped her arms around her. Greer forced herself not to tense up as she caught her by surprise.

“I’m glad to have you as a sister too,” Livvy whispered, making her relax and hug her back. “And I need all the help I can get to keep this guy from getting out of control with his bossiness.”

She giggled.

“All right, let’s break it up. I can see the two of you are going to be trouble.” Aidan drew Livvy away and pulled her up into his arms.

“You want to stay here, Greer?” he asked reluctantly.
