Standing from the bed with me in his arms, he walks across the hallway of our bedroom and into the spare room that is going to be the nursery. Yeah I have been planning. I watch him move a picture and reveal a silver panel. “Put your thumb right here.” I do as he says and watch when another panel opens. “Now look right into this with your left eye.” Once I have done that, a secret room opens, and my mouth widens.

“What is this place?” A panic room. Technically it is like an apartment within a house. It is sound proof, has two bedrooms and a bathroom and is stocked with any and everything you could think of. If something happens, I want you to run for this room, do you understand?”

“Yes, but how will I know when I can come out?”

“Either I, your cousin, Rocco or Aurora will come and get you.” Nodding, I lay my head back down on his chest. It is my favorite place to be. He lifts my chin, so I am looking at him. “If there is ever a reason for you to run here, I want you to do so with no regard for me whatsoever, Satine. Do you understand?” Fear flits through my body thinking of him being in danger which is silly because I know he basically is every damn day, but this, this sounds different. This sounds inevitable. Not like an ‘if.’

“I understand,” I tell him although it is killing me to think of having to leave him behind.

Once all of that is done, we shower, he fucks me against the wall before washing me from head to toe and picking out a one-piece jumpsuit for me to wear for the day. While he showers I brush my hair out and decide to let it dry naturally so that it is curly. I like it. It gives me a Miami sort of look.

“So Piccola, what do you have planned for today?” Every time he asks me that question a small pang of anxiety hits me and then I remember, he only wants me safe and now, knowing my father is here, I don’t want to be too far from protection anyway.

“Lily messaged and said she is going to be at the house. Something about a bump party?” He looks at me quizzically and I shrug because I have no idea what it means either.

“Those girls are always up to something. Here take this just in case.” He slides the black card across the table and kisses me. “I have to get going, baby. I need to find your father before he finds us.” Pulling his shirt so he moves closer to me, I stand on my tip toes, wrap my arms around his neck and look him in his eyes.

“Be careful and come back to me, husband.” He yanks me even further in his arms and kisses my nose.

“Every fucking night angel. Can’t let this pot of gold between your legs go unprotected.” I squeeze my thighs together and lick my lips. “Or your beautiful heart.” Gah. I love this man. “Now kiss me.” Our mouths meet in the middle seeking a comfort we both need with all that is stacked against us. The feeling of his slick tongue running over mine, makes me moan and ache. I am seconds from climbing him when he growls and pulls back. “Fuck. You make me forget everything.” He places his forehead on mine.

“Is that a bad thing?” Smiling, I give him my sweetest smile and of course he sees right through it and smacks my ass before rubbing his nose on mine.

“Be a good girl, baby.”

“I promise.”

Once he has driven off and I make sure I have everything I need, I grab my phone and a charger and put it in my purse. Making sure I have my keys; I make the wonderful walk to the main house. Before leaving our piece of land, I stop to admire the space Larabee is having excavated for me to plant a vegetable garden.

In my mind when I requested this, I picture me and our children out there on hot days planting things, laughing, soaking up the sun with him not too far away. Just thinking about a baby in my arms gives me a pang in my heart. One hand rubs my chest while the other wraps around my abdomen. My heart flutters with the knowledge that right now a baby could be inside of me, growing and turning into this little piece of him and I.

Walking up to the house, I am a bit stunned by the number of cars in the driveway, but I shrug my shoulders and keep going. From the door I can hear laughter and excitement.

“Oh my word.” My hand flies to my mouth at the craziness in front of me. “What in the world?” In front of me is a room filled with balloons, counters filled with cupcakes, champagne, juice, finger foods and tables filled with presents. There are about fifteen women in this room, most I don’t know.
