“That’s really good to know.” Librarians were amazing, but I had questions. “Can you ask Stefan if everything worked fine afterward? I don’t want to end up broken just because I’m kind of stupid when it comes to my mates’ penises.”

Kenzie and Alick snickered but somehow whatever I’d said made Stefan less nervous. He moved his hands away from his face and nodded. “It’s a thing with dragons. I read about it a lot.”

“It’s not just me?” That was good to know. “They’re yummy and I completely lack common sense when they’re in the room together.”

Stefan smiled, looking at me like I was cute, not something that would eat him. “That might be because you have two mates? A mage in one of the old diaries explained it like a feedback loop of sorts.”

“I don’t know if that sounds good or not, honestly, but we definitely need this in a romance novel.” Kenzie sat up taller and smiled excitedly at Stefan. “Have you read one like that? It could be all sexy times and bad decisions.”

“Yes, it would be.” I wasn’t sure I needed to read about it, though. I was living it. “But luckily for me and Carrick, we have Daddy. And Daddy has lots of common sense and patience.”

Painful amounts.

They were all back to looking at me and frowning like it was sad.

It was.

Stefan tried to make it better, though. “You were asking about if there would be any…any side effects?”

Oh, that was a good word.

“Yes, please.” I did my best not to say anything naughty so I didn’t make him nervous and it actually worked.

I was awesome.

Stefan even let out another breath and relaxed back into the couch again so he didn’t look like he was getting ready to fly away. “From what I’ve read, there is nothing in that scenario that damaged the mate and he didn’t regret it.”

We were back to Stefan swallowing and as his cheeks got pinker, I knew it was going to be something good again.

But I was sweet and just waited and looked happy.

And that was the perfect combination for Stefan.

He even tried to smile but his wiggling showed how nervous he still was. “He…the man in the journal…he said that every…enthusiastic mate who liked to…who liked to bottom should have a mage as a partner because…well, they kept muscles tight and always in good health.”

Our mouths all dropped open.

It should’ve been obvious but it hadn’t been.

Laughing, Stefan finally stopped looking nervous. “That’s what he wrote. He seemed to think it was common knowledge because it was more of a backhanded comment at first. He was like ‘well, everyone knows this but…’ and then he wrote about it.”

When our heads all cocked to the side at the same time, Stefan went back to giggling. “One of the first local teachers had writing diaries as part of their curriculum in school and that’s how so many of them got in the habit.”

Sighing, Stefan shook his head. “I just wish more of the diaries from the kids were saved. Those would’ve been adorable to read.”

Um, no.

Stefan was definitely the only one of us who thought that was a fun idea, so I tried to steer us back on topic. “So I’m not going to end up broken or weird? Carrick keeps wanting to do things and the only mage I’ve ever had fix me was when I scraped my knee as a kid.”

I’d fallen when I’d been playing in the park and one of the neighbors had fixed me up before sending me back to play. Mischief had been my middle name, not Clumsy, so I hadn’t needed anyone to fix broken bones and I’d been fairly healthy for the most part.

Stefan blinked, his head tilting to the side as he thought about it. He looked like an adorable college professor. “Yes, I guess it could be worrisome. Everyone has different skill levels.”

Pausing for a moment, he nodded again before coming back to the moment and sitting straighter. “Everyone seems to highly regard Carrick’s skills, though. From what I understand, he’s one of the most skilled mages in the area, if not in North America.”

So he hadn’t just been bragging?

“I’m sorry to embarrass you, but would you let a mage like Carrick do it to you? Hypothetically, of course? I mean, if Boyd weren’t your mate and your mate was a cranky mage with lots of confidence and dirty ideas?” I thought I’d worded that pretty well when all Stefan did was blush a little and let out a deep breath.

“Yes.” Trying to sit straighter made him feel more confident but he just looked wiggly to me. “I think it would be safe and would be helpful in your situation.”

My two-mate situation.

“That is very good to know.” I was trying to be good but Kenzie giggled. “Stop that. I’m trying not to talk about getting pounded by both my mates at the same time. Stefan is easily embarrassed.”
