The doctor chuckles. “Fluids and antiemetics usually do that.” Then she asks my girl, “I have your test results. Is it okay for me to discuss them in front of your fiancé?”

“Absolutely,” Milly agrees.

“We found a very simple reason for your nausea.” Dr. Mills smiles. “You’re pregnant.”

Even though I’ve been working my ass off trying to knock up my little peach, hearing the words is still a complete fucking shock.

“Are you sure?” Milly’s eyes widen as she glances over to see my reaction.

“Completely.” The doctor pats Milly’s arm. “We’re going to do a quick ultrasound and make sure everything looks okay. If all is good, we’ll discharge you with instructions to follow up with your own obstetrician. If you need a referral, there will be a list of local doctors in your discharge packet.

The nurse wheels in a tiny ultrasound machine. I grasp my peach’s hand tightly as we watch the grainy image appear on the screen.

“Everything looks great,” Dr. Mills tells us once the test is done. “The pregnancy is too early to see much, but I didn’t find any problems. Once your fluids are done, you can go home.”

“Thank you.” Milly smiles and squeezes my hand. Once we’re alone, she turns to me. “Are you okay with this?”

“I’m fucking on top of the world.” I lay my hand softly on her belly. “I hate that my little one is making you sick, but I’m so happy about the baby.”

“What about your brother?” Milly asks, and I see the fear in her gaze. “Is he going to disown you over this?”

“Don’t you worry about Lorenzo.” I lift her hand to my lips and place a kiss on the soft skin before reassuring her, “If he wants to get pissy about it, I tell him to fuck off. Nothing will ever come between me and my family. You and our baby mean everything to me. I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

Lorenzo isn’t thrilled to hear that I knocked up my fiancée, but the fucker knows better than to give me hell. “This means you need to have a quiet wedding.” He sighs. “We can announce the marriage and let the chips fall where they may.”

“I’ll keep you informed of our plans,” I tell him and hang up.

That night, I slip the antique ring my grandmother left me on Milly’s finger. “This isn’t how I had planned on proposing.” I kiss her forehead. “I promise to make this up to you when you’re feeling better.”

“There’s nothing to make up.” She smiles at me before looking down at the sapphire and diamond ring. “I love you.”

“I love you, too. And I love this little one.” I lay my hand on her tummy. “But I can’t wait for you to feel better.”

“God, me too.” My girl groans and rolls over to rest.

My MC brothers are thrilled for me. The wives take turns coming to check on Milly while I plan a small, quiet wedding at the clubhouse. Gloria and Rulie take over running our household while my little peach fights round-the-clock nausea.

“It’s freaking eight o’clock at night,” Milly grumbles after her latest round of vomiting. “This is supposed to be morning sickness. Your child needs to learn to tell time.”

I help her lay in our bed and pull the covers up over her. “I’m so sorry. It kills me to see you suffering.” Dr. Jen Fielding, our new obstetrician, assured us this is all normal, but it sucks. If it continues much longer, this will be our only child. There’s no way I’ll let my little peach go through this hell ever again. “You rest while I go take care of Elvis.”

“He’s enjoying all the extra attention.” Milly laughs. “Our puppy thinks he’s the prince.” It’s fucking true. The little shit is living his best life. Cash stepped in and arranged for the brothers to take turns walking our energetic puppy until Milly is back on her feet.

CHAPTER

MILLY

“This morning sickness sucks.” I try to get comfortable on the sofa, then turn to Rose as she sits in the overstuffed chair across from me with the two growing Rottweiler puppies curled up in her lap. “Big time.” My best friend stops by every day after work.

She drops Princess off every morning on her way to work at the clubhouse since it’s close to her apartment. Then Rulie and Gloria bring the puppy over here to spend the day with Elvis. Damien’s MC takes care of their family. There’s always someone coming into the house to check on me and walk the puppies.

“Girl,” she shudders, “I don’t see how you survive it.”

“It’s getting freaking old.” Is that ever an understatement?

“It will all be worth it once the baby comes,” Rose tells me.

“This kid better be an angel,” I grumble then grab the book laying on the coffee table. “Thank you for bringing me the latest book club selection.” I hold up the paperback with a mostly naked, tattooed man on the cover. “This should keep me busy for a while.”
