His eyes flew open. “Wh-what are you doing?”

“I told you no talking.”

“Can’t help it. You’re too much. This is too much.”

“Maybe you should go back to the house then.”

His mouth dropped open as he stared at me. When he tried to wrap his own hand around his cock, I grabbed his wrists and pinned him to the tree.

He sucked in his breath when I teased his slit, and when I took him down again, he whimpered, the sound barely there since he’d pressed his lips together so hard I thought he might leave bruises.

I loved watching him as much as I loved tasting him and feeling the thickness of his cock. It was all over too soon. He writhed, fighting to get his hands free, then with a gasp he let go and emptied himself down my throat.

CARLO

I looked down at Blade as my cock slipped from his mouth. He met my gaze and smiled. I’d never seen him look happier, even though he was on his knees with my spunk running down his chin.

Was this real? Had we really just sucked each other off in the woods by the barn? Was this dominant, controlling man really on his knees for me?

I brushed my fingers over his cheek, and he leaned into my touch. Later, I would realize that was the moment I lost my heart to him. Right then, all I knew as I looked into his eyes was that there was a connection between us. I saw his eyes widen briefly, telling me he felt it too.

The spell broke when he pulled a bandanna from his pocket and used it to wipe his mouth as he stood.

My heart pounded, and I grew suddenly shy, looking down as I tucked myself in and fastened my pants. I had no idea what to say now.

“Carlo?” It was the first time he’d used my name, and the power of it made me look up at him.

“Yes?”

“What did you tell Rhys when you left?”

“I told him I was going back to the house.”

“Then you should do that.”

I wanted to protest, but what would I say? No, I want to stay with you. Would I beg him to be my bodyguard?

“Can we—”

He laid a finger on my lips and shook his head. “No talking.”

I needed to talk. I’d never felt the way I felt with him, and my gut told me he hadn’t either. If this wasn’t one-sided—it couldn’t be, could it?—why was he pushing me away?

Blade raised his brows. Did he really think I was going to suddenly become obedient? I wanted to say so much more, but I knew better than to push him harder. I’d gotten him to admit—at least with his body—that he wanted more from me. Had he come looking for me? I was going to find out.

This wasn’t going to be the last time we were together, and I was determined that next time there would be talking.

I started walking toward the house, but I couldn’t resist the urge to turn and look back at him. He was standing just as I’d left him, watching my retreat. I smiled and turned back toward the house. I didn’t just want to fuck him again. I wanted to know him, the real Blade, his real name, and what had caused him to withdraw the way he had.

When I reached the house, I tried to slip in quietly and head up to my room, but Rogue saw me as I was starting up the steps.

“Where’s Rhys?” he asked.

“In the corral. I told him I was coming back to the house.”

“And he just let you go?”

“Yes, he was a bit busy to be walking me back like a little kid.”

“You’re not supposed to wander around on your own.”

I wasn’t about to let him know Blade had been watching me the whole time. I had no doubt he’d waited for me to be safely in the house before he went home. “I was fine. I was only walking from the barn to the house.”

“He hasn’t tried to run away yet. I don’t think he’s going to now.”

Rogue sighed as Jacob walked into the kitchen. “Since when did you become the rules enforcer?”

That comment earned Jacob a glare. I wondered if I could slip out, but as soon as I took a step back, Rogue said, “Where are you going now?”

“To my room.”

“And you’re going to sit there quietly until lunch is ready?”

“I thought I’d shower first, then sit quietly.”

Jacob shoved at Rogue’s shoulder. “Stop being an ass.”

“Why don’t you come and sit with us? I’ve hardly gotten a chance to talk to you since you arrived.”

Rogue smirked. “Grant keeps Jacob real busy.”

Jacob grinned. “Are you jealous? Do I need to talk to Ghost?”

Rogue flipped him off. “Ghost satisfies me perfectly.”

Not as well as Blade. That couldn’t be possible.
