Immediately, my cock’s rock hard.

“I’d love to get down to sexy times, sweetheart.” With that, our lips join in a passionate kiss as I carry Susie to the bedroom. But there’s a niggling discomfort in the back of my mind because will Nanette ever know about us? Probably not, and to be honest, the realization makes me sad because I’d love to keep her daughter with me always, safe in my arms and asleep in my bed. But I don’t have that choice, and that’s just the way it is.

Susie

Ugh. I can’t believe I have to have lunch with my mom. After bailing on me for Christmas, she thinks everything’s going to be fine, and that all will be forgiven. It’s just like Nanette to think that.

Ed tries to cheer me up.

“It’ll be fine,” my lover says while giving me a quick kiss on the forehead. “At least order some good food.”

I roll my eyes.

“Yeah, but that’s not going to make up for the fact that I have to spend time in her company. My mother can be a lot.”

The handsome older man merely winks, pinching my bottom to liven my mood a bit.

“Well, let me know how it goes.”

I sigh and give him a slow kiss, and then grab my bag before leaving the apartment. A brisk chill greets me, but it’s not too bad, so I begin my walk. Why why why? I hate that this is happening because I just want to spend all of my remaining winter break with Ed. But instead, I’m being forced to spend time with Nanette. What a horrible swap.

Besides, could my mom tell that Ed and I are together? I was wearing his oversized sweater last night, but then again, they’re all ugly, baggy clothes to her. Nanette probably wouldn’t even suspect because it’s not like she’s an observant person. Instead, everything’s always about her, so if it doesn’t affect her directly, then she doesn’t even notice.

Within a few minutes, I’m at the restaurant.

“How many?” the host asks.

“Two, please. My mother will be here soon.”

The woman inclines her head politely.

“Right this way.”

I take a seat facing the door so I’ll see when Nanette arrives. Finally, ten minutes late, Mom sweeps into the restaurant looking glamorous in an expensive ski jacket, tight designer jeans, and those ridiculous moon boots again. Her blonde hair hangs in perfect tendrils down her back, and I sigh. I wish she would stop doing herself up like Paris Hilton because she’s forty if a day, but what can you do when it’s your mom?

I stand up for a peck on her cheek. Nanette sees me and frowns.

“You could’ve dressed up a little, darling. What is it with those ugly, baggy tops?”

I sigh, rolling my eyes.

“It’s a casual restaurant, Mom. Besides, this is a very pretty shade of caramel.”

“Still. It looks more like the color of shit.”

I bite my lip because clearly, we’re already off to a bad start.

“So tell me more about your trip,” I enthuse with a fake smile. “Did you do anything fun?”

That does it. As the waiter hands us our menus, my mom launches into a monologue about her fantastic vacation.

“We stayed on the ship for the most part because it was far too cold to leave the stateroom. You know Bernard’s gotten pneumonia twice in the last few years, and pneumonia can be life-threatening when you’re his age. So we had fun in our bedroom,” she intimates with a giggle.

“Um, that’s good. I hope you got to see a few sights at least.”

“Oh, we did!” Nanette sighs. “We looked out the porthole and spotted some whales and even a narwhal, you know the ones that are like dolphins with unicorn horns. Plus, there was so much ice floating in the ocean. Just chunks and chunks of it.”

“It is the Arctic Ocean,” I quip dryly, but the irony is lost on my mom.

“Plus, we even saw some polar bears, which of course, were so cute,” she giggles like a schoolgirl. “Bernard promised to protect me from them.”

“Yes, but weren’t you inside?” I ask, confused. “I thought you said you were staying in the room and looking out the cabin window.”

“Oh, he was just being funny!” Nanette says breezily while fluttering her hand in the air. “Bernard is so brave and sees himself as my protector, even if he’s using a wheelchair these days.”

Oh God, it’s as bad as I thought. My mom is clearly off in La-La Land.

“Well, why don’t we order?” I say as the waiter comes by once more. “This food looks delicious.”

Soon, I’m digging into a heavenly soufflé while my mom picks at her salad. I figure the danger’s over, and soon, I’ll be free of this silly woman, but then Nanette looks up and smiles.

“I know what you got up to over break,” she hums in a silky tone.
