“We come here all the fucking time,” I remind him.

“Yes, we do, but not on a Friday.” I ignore him as I watch Lissie come out from the back room. She doesn’t know we’re here as the bar is at the back, and our seats are situated at the front. Usually, we don’t go up to the bar, but since I can’t help myself, I stand and head that way.

Morris whistles from his seat at the table. “Oh, look at him go. He’s in love.”

I don’t pay him any attention, as I leave them to do whatever the fuck it is they do. We have over twenty members in the Savage Villains, and while I respect each of them and think they all earned their spot here, it’s those two dickheads I spend most of my time with.

As I get to the bar, I hear her say, “That will be twenty,” to the patron she’s serving. He hands her a fifty and tells her to keep the change. She beams and thanks him before her eyes find mine. Her smile drops, and a slow blush coats her cheeks. “Milo.”

“Elizabeth.” I lean on the bar so I’m closer to her.

I don’t bother telling her that very soon, I will be killing her husband for non-payment. Instead, I focus on those killer eyes that suck me in every time I look into them.

And wonder when I can kiss her again.

Fuck, I want to kiss her.

“Would you tell Cody about us?” I ask her.

Her eyes shine with something I can’t quite put a finger on before she answers, “How you like to kiss me, you mean?” she snarks.

“If I remember correctly, you kissed me back, Pretty Lady.” I wink at her, and she steps back far enough that I can appreciate her little black skirt and black tank top. She’s also wearing boots, and her tattoos are on full display. I wonder if she has ink anywhere else. Fuck, how I would like to know. Her hair is back in a simple braid, a few strands framing her face.

“I guess you know you’re a good kisser.” She winks and walks over to the cash register. I watch as she puts the fifty in and then counts out her tip, putting it in her skirt pocket before she turns back to me. “Drunk people tip really well,” she says, smiling.

“You know another way to earn a tip?” I sit my ass on the stool, and she stands in front of me on the other side of the bar.

“How?”

“Lean over, and I’ll show you.” I tap the bar, and her eyes flick to my hand before they come back to mine.

“I’m not kissing you again,” she states, fighting a smirk.

“But I’ll tip you.”

“You know what tip I want? I want one where you have to pay me twenty thousand dollars.” She huffs out a laugh and turns to start cleaning up the bar.

“Okay,” I reply without hesitation.

She stops wiping down the bar and shoots me a disbelieving look. “Okay?”

“Okay. Twenty thousand, and I can kiss you right here, right now,” I offer.

“Milo, are you all right?” she asks, moving closer. Despite the bar between us, I want to reach out and grab her. “Do you really have that sort of money to just throw around?”

“I do, and I can throw it where I fucking please. So, move a little closer.”

“Just for a kiss?” she asks. “That’s a life-changing amount of money for me.” She shakes her head. “But I could never take it. I want to earn it.”

“Oh, trust me, you’ll be earning it. Those lips of yours are worth more than twenty grand.” The lips in question pull up in a smile, and she shakes her head.

“Thanks for the job, Milo. I have to go back to work.” She waves me off and goes to the other end of the bar.

And I sit there all night watching her.

Chapter 21

Lissie

“Shop till he drops me… in the bed, on the floor, or wherever. I’ll take it.”

“Pretty Lady.”

There’s that voice again. The one that vibrates all the way through me without having permission to do so. I don’t really understand my feelings for Milo. I’m not sure exactly what’s happening between us, but it seems every warning I give myself to stay away isn’t working. But how can I when any time I leave the house, he finds me? I get that it’s a small town, but how unlucky—or lucky—am I?

I made a good amount in tips this week, and since I need so many things, I decided to go shopping. My hands clutch the new pair of shoes I was trying on as I close my eyes and take a deep breath. When I don’t turn around to face Milo, he takes the seat next to me, pushing against me so our shoulders are touching.
