I took her back to the bathroom and got us both cleaned up again and just innocently dropped a few words into the conversation while we were getting dressed. “I have to go out for a few hours today, I won’t be long.”

“Oh, where are you going?” I didn’t want to lie to her about what I was up to so I just made her believe I was going to the office for a couple of hours instead of telling her that I was going to go hunt down the asshole senator. Thankfully she was preoccupied looking up pregnancy stuff on the internet by the time I was ready to leave.

“You’re not to leave the house until I get back. If you need anything before then one of the men outside will take care of it.” I wasn’t happy about taking both Kev and Dave with me and leaving her here with the rest of the team, but they refused to budge on their stance.

I made sure the house was secure and I left my own team on her as I headed to the city. At least I’ve known those guys for years and know what they’re capable of. The plane there and back would take less than an hour and I didn’t plan to spend too much time with the asshole, so the whole thing should be over in three to four hours.

We’d already learned through Holly that the senator was still in the city trying to clean up the mess dad had made for him and not doing a very good job of it. I knew the fuck wouldn’t want to see me so I’d already made it so that I could get past his secretary and into his inner office.

No one spoke on the plane, we each had our game face on. Kind of like when we were in the service going on a run. Each man knew his job and what was required. And though I wasn’t expecting anything to happen except maybe for some heated words, these two might have their own shit going on.

All the way into the city after we landed I kept hoping this fool would fall neatly into the trap I was setting for him. Today’s meeting was long overdue for all that it had been a little more than a month since this whole thing started.

If I could take care of him without ever having to see his face again that would be good. But there were some things he needed to hear from me before his life implodes altogether. I’m that fucking petty. I want him to see me and know that I now had what he wanted most, that I was the one standing in his way and there isn’t shit he could do about it.

Really, I want to put a hole in his skull and watch him bleed out, but this way was a hell of a lot more fun. Like playing with my prey before taking him down once and for all.

Dad had already fucked him over but good, he was set to lose his life’s work along with everyone he knew; but that was just the beginning. Now I’m going to set shit in motion that would make sure he can’t resist coming after me and it will be the last time I ever have to deal with his sick ass.

Just as planned, the secretary just waved us in when we entered the outer office. “He’s free until later this afternoon.” She didn’t seem too pleased to be here and I imagine all the scandals of the last few days had taken their toll on her as well. Not to mention the fact that she would soon be out of a job.

He was sitting at his desk with Ambrose standing behind him when we walked in. He looked up and saw me and there was no mistaking the rage that came into his eyes. “What are you doing here?” He reached for the phone but Kev moved at the same time and so did his boy Ambrose.

Dave went after him, pushing him back against the wall while Kev took the phone from the senator’s hand. “No need to panic, I’m just here to talk.” I smirked down at him.

“I have nothing to say to you. You and that bitch think you can get away with this…”

“I’d be careful if I were you, how you speak about my wife. In case you’ve forgotten, she’s now part of the Sorrento family, and not someone for the likes of you to even mention. Watch your mouth.”

He bristled but had the good sense to keep his mouth shut. “You gonna act human if I let you go?” Dave growled at Ambrose before releasing his hold from around his neck. The ex mercenary was none too pleased but he knew the younger man had him beat.
