“As I was saying senator, I’m just here to talk, to clear the air if you will.” I stared at him before turning my attention to the man standing behind him. “Alone.” Ambrose puffed up like a peacock but both Dave and Kev took a step toward him before the senator ordered him to leave through gritted teeth.

I nodded for my two watchers to leave the room and they did so grudgingly. I waited for the sound of the door closing behind them and sat down, relaxed back in the chair, crossed my legs and tapped my fingers together in front of my face.

“Good, now that we’re alone I’m here to tell you that my wife is no longer of any concern to you. Whatever familial ties you once had ended when your son took his own life.” I worded it like that to be sure that he knew nothing about the gun.

“I don’t see what gives you the right. She was my daughter in law after all.”

“You and I both know that’s not what this is about.” I gave him a knowing look to let him know he wasn’t talking to a fool. Asshole was still playing the sanctimonious upstanding man of society role.

“What did that little bitch tell you?” Oh-ho, it didn’t take long for the façade to drop.

“I’m not going to tell you again. I came here to give you one last chance to back off. But if you don’t appreciate my goodwill I have plenty reasons to destroy you. Let’s not let it come to that.”

“Are you threatening me, who do you think you are? You think your money…” I cut him off before he gave himself a hernia.

“I’m the man who’s married to the woman you’ve been abusing for the last four years. The man who would bury you without a second thought if you fuck with me.”

“You don’t scare me, and this little game you’re playing with the press won’t get you anywhere. I know people, just because you and your old man have money don’t mean shit. I’m a United States senator…”

“Are you really this stupid? Haven’t you ever heard the saying, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth? This is your last chance.”

“I don’t answer to you, punk kid. I eat assholes like you for breakfast every day of the week. As to that bitch I’ll deal with her however I see fit and you can’t stop me. No matter what she’s told you there’s unfinished business between us…” This fuck is tired of breathing.

“Senator, I know you’re one thirsty bitch, no

scratch that, your ass is dehydrated as fuck but you’re never going to drink from that well because she’s mine you evil fuck. Come near her again and I’ll bury you. Now fuck off. And don’t forget, I warned you, this was your last warning.”

I leaned in and got up close and personal. “I know what you tried to do to her you sick twisted fuck. You’re lucky I haven’t put a bullet between your eyes already. Remember what I said. You wouldn’t want the world to know this about you would you? Compared to all the other shit that came out in the press in the last week, this one I think would be the nail in your coffin.”

I got up and left before I stomped his ass into the ground. Ambrose threw me a look like he thought he could take me when I walked out the door as the senator hurled pointless threats at my retreating back. I ignored his dumb ass and kept it moving. I’d done what I came here to do.

Outside on the sidewalk I released the smile I’d been holding.

“Uh-oh!” Kev stepped up beside me. “What’re you planning?”

“He’s fucked. Did you see the look in his eyes, he’s buckling under pressure. I give him less than a week to come after me.”

“So that’s what you’re up to. I knew I didn’t trust that laid back shit.”

“Let’s go, we have work to do.” My phone rang as soon as I got into the back of the car. I smiled when I saw it was her. “What’s up baby, I’m on my way back to you.”

“Can you pick me up some red velvet cheesecake from Two Little Red Hens?” The fuck is that.

“Sure anything else?” She had a long list of shit she wanted from the city, like cupcakes from Magnolias along with some other shit I never heard of. I had to look up the cheesecake place since I’d never heard of it either and the three of us ended up running all over the city to fill her hunger need.

She met me at the door and I thought she was excited to see me back but she grabbed her bags of goodies, gave me a quick smooch, said hi to the guys and disappeared into the kitchen. “Is she planning on eating all that shit right now?” I looked at the other two bemused as they followed me into the kitchen behind her.
