“Go back to sleep, I’ll be quick.” There was no foreplay this time, I just felt around inside her with my fingers to make sure she was wet enough from the night before to take me, and she was. I slid into her heat and rocked against her as she moved with me sleepily.

She never woke up. Not even when I came inside her hard and stayed on top of her a little while longer until worry about my weight pressing her into the bed made me roll away.

In the morning we went through the usual morning sickness and sex on the bathroom floor. While she was sipping on lukewarm ginger tea which is one of the things I’d learned was good for her at this stage, I told her about the weekend.

“I’m taking you to mom and dad’s this weekend.” I said it casually so she wouldn’t get any hint of what I was really up to. I’d tell her later after it was all over with. She’d only worry if I told her the truth and I couldn’t have that. “I won’t be staying though. Something came up that I have to take care of.”

I didn’t look at her when I said it but felt her eyes on me. Suspicious little shit.

“Okay! It will give mom and I a chance to catch up and discuss the baby.” She seemed happy enough with that and it helped ease some of the worry in my gut.

This would make the first time we’d be apart since I went and got her and I wasn’t sure at first how she would handle the separation. By the time we were on our way to my family’s home on the island she seemed revved for the little adventure.

She’d talked to mom on the phone a few hours ago and apparently they’d already made plans. I was able to talk mom into staying close to him just to be safe, hinting that maybe she could have one of her garden parties of which she’s so fond. It would give her a chance to show off her new daughter in law and her upcoming grandbaby.

She grabbed at the idea and put me out of the misery of worrying about the two of them traipsing around in the open while I did what I had to do. Dad’s security is top notch and I have no doubt he’d make sure she was safe until I got back, but it was better safe than sorry.

Kev had already started the gossip mill and by now I was sure that the senator knew where I was going to be, where he expected her to be as well. Just a few well-placed lies that we made sure he overheard, while Holly did her bit.

She was playing the role of consoler, manipulating him into believing that she was upset with all the shit that was happening to him. I’d coached her on just what to say and do which she was only too happy to for the money I was paying her.

So there I was Saturday night after leaving my wife with my parents, already missing her and wanting this shit behind me. There was a lot that could go wrong but I wasn’t planning to let it.

Kev and his guys were spread out around the property staying close to the shoreline which was the only place they could get in. We had someone tailing the senator, watching his every move.

I’d expected him to bring a whole entourage but apparently he thought Ambrose was all he needed. I guess he wasn’t expecting me to have my team with me on a romantic weekend getaway, so he thought we were sitting ducks.

I sat alone in the dark waiting once we got the news that he was on the move heading in my direction. He’d been on the island since this afternoon in the beach house that he was sure to lose soon since he was bleeding money like a geyser trying to plug the holes dad had made in his shit.

“Incoming!” Kev’s voice came through the earpiece and my blood started pounding in my veins. The plan was for them to stay back and let him enter the house without interference. As opposed to Dave’s suggestion to take him out on sight.

I remained sitting in the chair in the dark with just one side lamp on, but reclined in a way to make it seem like I’d fallen asleep there with papers on my lap to add to the illusion. There were no other lights on in the house as Kev gave me a rundown of what was going on outside.

Ambrose had been dispatched to cut the wires outside the house. I heard through the earpiece as his body hit the ground. Two things happened at once, my phone rang in my pocket, and the senator walked through the door.
