I grabbed the makeup bag I’d thrown onto the passenger seat and shook out the lipstick. My hair was still wet and I didn’t have my favorite conditioner but it was better than having all that strange sperm in my hair. Then I remembered what that bitch had said and felt my gorge rise.
Where’s the free clinic? If I play my cards right I might be able to score something to take the edge off. I used the car’s GPS to find the nearest free clinic which was half an hour away.
I prepared my act before I reached the address and tore my shirt and shorts before leaving the car and heading inside.
The place wasn’t as crowded as those filthy rundown clinics you see on TV. Maybe because it wasn’t in a shithole of a neighborhood. Even here just on the outskirts of town, the free clinic was top notch.
I got my acting face on as soon as the first person noticed me. “I need help, please help me.” I dropped to the floor and heard feet come rushing just as I’d expected. I was lifted and taken into a separate room and laid on a cot. Not too long after that the doctor came in, female, go figure.
She poked and prodded and asked a lot of probing questions. “I was walking at night, just outside my home. These guys came along in their car. I ignored them at first, but then….” Draw your own conclusions bitch.
“Do you know what type of drugs they gave you?”
“I don’t know anything about drugs, I don’t know. I think I fainted.” She shook her head in disgust, probably believing my attackers had left the bruises all over my body that I’d gotten from those asshole kids.
She wanted me to hang around for results and tried talking me into calling the cops. I had a hell of a time convincing her that the men were long gone, that I’d overheard them talking about heading to Mexico. And that since I’d already taken a shower there was no evidence left to be collected.
Plus I insisted that I was too ashamed to tell anyone what had happened to me and just wanted to forget the whole thing. She didn’t believe me of course, but what was she going to do?
I hung around there and almost wish that I hadn’t. She’d given me the whole having to wait forty-eight hours for the results but claimed she might have the results of the drugs in my system sooner.
So when she called me back to her office I thought she was calling me to tell me something I already knew. I was really only hanging around to find a way to get some drugs. And then this bitch had to go and spoil my already shitty day.
“Did you know that you’re pregnant? Not very far along but you definitely are.” What the hell was this bitch on? The only one I’d come close to having unprotected sex with is that orderly in the hos…
“That can’t be right, check again.” She shook her head and looked down at the papers in front of her. I felt the worse panic yet as I saw my world crumbling around me.
Now I knew that someone was really out to get me. Of all the men I’d screwed around with, that’s the one I slipped up on? No way in hell I could be that unlucky.
I was in full blown panic mode when she started talking about my options. Oh yeah, what’s the big deal? I can just get rid of it. And if my luck remains this shitty I can just carry it to term and sell it. I know plenty of ways to do that. Or….
My mind was working again. This brat could be a blessing in disguise. “Can you give me something that say’s I’m pregnant? I’d like to show my fiancé.”
I gave her one of my innocent smiles and for the first time was happy to see pity in someone else’s eyes for me.
“Of course and I’ll have the nurse give you some pamphlets with the information you’re going to need.”
Yeah-yeah-yeah, whatever. This brat’s not going to be alive that long. Just long enough for me to destroy Sian Claiborne’s newfound happiness. I found my first real smile in days, weeks even, as I left the clinic with that little piece of paper in hand.
I’d been so excited I’d forgotten to score some drugs. I hadn’t seen a male anywhere in that stupid place anyway, that might’ve been willing to help me, so it was most likely a bust.
I sat in the car and formulated my next move in my head. How can I get close enough to do what I have to do? There was no way to get onto the Saunders’ property without being noticed.
